Simply put, Carvana is a better way to buy a car. You can browse, finance, and purchase a car online and have it delivered to you as soon as the next day. Cutting out the dealerships translates to thousands of dollars in lower costs on every vehicle we sell. We pass these savings on to consumers in four ways: lower prices (our customers save $1,430 on average per purchase), premium cars, a better experience, and no hidden fees.

I am writing this to warn Washington state car buyer…
I am writing this to warn Washington consumers about the deceptive business practices I experienced with Carvana and their repair administrator, SilverRock. Over the course of two separate vehicle purchases in March 2026, I encountered systemic misrepresentation of vehicle conditions and a refusal to honor advertised guarantees.
Transaction 1: Willful Misrepresentation of Accident History
I purchased a "Carvana Certified" vehicle advertised as "Accident-Free." However, a professional inspection by a certified Lexus technician immediately identified:
Structural repairs and mismatched paint.
A wavy, dented hood consistent with a major collision.
Despite providing Carvana with the written inspection report, they initially refused repairs, forcing a return. Most alarmingly, Carvana relisted the exact same vehicle days later, still labeling it "Accident-Free" despite having physical proof of the damage. This is a clear violation of the Washington Consumer Protection Act and RCW 46.70.180.
Transaction 2: The "150-Point Inspection" & Illusory Repair Policy
Hoping the first experience was a fluke, I purchased a second vehicle. This unit arrived with a noticeable hood dent that was omitted from the 360-degree online tour and the 150-point inspection report.
When I attempted to use Carvana’s marketed policy—which promises to repair up to three cosmetic imperfections found after delivery—SilverRock denied the claim. They stated the damage "met their internal standards," despite these standards never being disclosed during the sale.
The Bottom Line
Carvana’s business model appears to rely on:
Deceptive Omission: Failing to disclose physical defects in online listings.
Illusory Promises: Marketing a "150-point inspection" and a repair grace period, then using "secret standards" to deny valid claims.
Unfair Exchange: I provided a pristine trade-in and received two damaged vehicles in return.
I have incurred over $1,600 in actual damages, including inspection fees and lost professional time. I have formally escalated this matter to the Washington Attorney General, the Department of Licensing, and the BBB.
Buyer Beware: Do not trust the "Certified" label. If you buy from Carvana, get a third-party inspection immediately and be prepared for a fight if the vehicle isn't as advertised.
Carvana diagnostic cheat to lower their offer on your car
I just bought a new car and the Dealer offered a trade in of $8,600 for my 2016 Jeep Cherokee low mileage in excellent condition with Factory ordered V6 and Tow Package Carvana offered me $9,200 and they would pick it up. They came to pick it up and looked at almost nothing, but then put in his "modified" FIXD diagnostic tool, I know it was modified (yellow tape on the top with two wires) because I have one just like is (not modified) ran the scan and said that my Check Engine light was on but they would still take the car and offer me a new contract for $8,100.
At that point I knew it was a scam because the Check Engine light has never come on and I had run a scan the day before they came with no codes showing up.
At that point I called him every name I could think of and told him to hit the road. To his credit he did not deny anything. I was able to get the codes cleared and everything is good now but beware!
No stars if it was possible
No stars if it was possible, they are pretty bad, even leaving reviews on their website is not possible if you are not good reviews costumer, they sold me a car that didn’t work properly failed at 1 month of purchase they sent to mechanics that told me themselves they are not certified to work on my car I had to pay for all the mechanical defects then I fell behind on the payment they took it away as quick as they could then to recover it I had to pay an outrageous amount according to them was towing costs which was plain bs, they were afraid of me hitting them with the lemon law they messed up my credit on top of everything I do not recommend carvana for your own good
Don't believe their offer, they will find a way for your vehicle to fail so they can lowball you
The Carvana associate that they sent to our house didn't know how to run the OBD scan for our vehicle so he put in that we failed the OBD scan which caused the sale to be cancelled and if we wanted to proceed we had to wait 5-7 business days for a manual appraisal with no guarantee that they would match the original offer. We took our vehicle to an Autozone store a few miles away and they had no problem running the scan. Our vehicle had no issues and passed the scan. They stated that the Carvana employee likely did not know how to do the scan for our vehicle. We were penalized for the employees failure and had to cancel the sale as we were already working on buying another vehicle and couldn't wait 5-7 business days(since it was a Thursday, this could turn into 2 weeks) to find out if Carvana would honor the offer they had originally made.
Carvana totally sucks
Carvana totally sucks. Junk cars and lo ball trade offers. I'd rather buy from a junk yard than this full of nonsense joke of a company.
Avoid, avoid, avoid
The customer support system is trash and business seems sketchy.
The customer support system is trash. When needed assistance they only gave me a text option. Nothing to speak with someone. I tried to do the mandatory text it gave me a number I already dialed then gave me a co tact number for Canada. Im in America!!
Not to mention, I feel like how they sell there cars, they are not transparent enough on its history especiallyhow they got the car. As time has gone on finding diffrent issues. Even the dealership I took it to pointed it out. Super sketchy business.
Hot mess
First delivery was delayed 4 days. Truck arrived with a slew of issues, decided to go one year newer and had to pay for shipping, arranged the insurance to be taken off the day the new one arrived everything was set up and good to go. Get an email at 1 am that its been delayed 5 days. Now forced to drive the first truck with no insurance and they aren't willing to do anything to make it right. Worst experience. When this truck arrives it better be flawless or Im returning and taking my money elsewhere.

Carvana sold me a dangerous car and refuses to make it right
Upon purchasing a vehicle from Carvana, I was provided with a non-functional asset that suffered from significant, undisclosed defects. Although the vehicle was marketed as a "Fleet" car with no reported accident history, it immediately exhibited a loud "scrunching" noise when placed in reverse. Following an initial mechanical assessment and a subsequent expert inspection by a certified dealership, it was revealed that the vehicle had sustained prior frame damage and had been involved in a major accident—critical information that Carvana failed to disclose during the sale. A specialized body shop later conducted an in-depth evaluation, confirming that the structural damage was so severe that the car was officially deemed undrivable.
Despite being a repeat customer and notifying Carvana of these discrepancies within the first week of ownership, I have been met with a complete lack of accountability. Over several months, I maintained consistent contact with the company, providing comprehensive documentation, including professional reports and photographic evidence from both the dealership and the body shop. Carvana has repeatedly failed to offer a resolution or provide the support expected from a major automotive retailer.
The consequences of this negligence have been devastating. I am currently burdened with a significant debt for a vehicle I cannot use, while simultaneously incurring the massive out-of-pocket expense of a rental car. This situation has caused profound financial hardship and has taken an immense toll on my physical, emotional, and mental health. I am forced to work tirelessly every day just to meet these mounting costs while struggling to find a path out of this financial crisis. After Carvana rejected a formal settlement offer sent through my legal counsel, I have been left with no choice but to file a lawsuit to recover my losses and restore my life and mental stability.
Horrible experience, would never use again.
At the last minute (1 hour before the car was supposed to show up) they canceled the delivery. As everyone has to be present that meant that both my wife and I took a day off of work for nothing. This also meant, we each had to take another day off of work.
Carvana stated it was because someone called out of work. The idea that national company like Carvana doesn't have back up drivers is absurd.
This delay also caused all the contracts to be reissued, which was just one more hassle. If I didn't need a vehicle ASAP, I would have cancelled the sale of the car, but I'm assuming this is what Carvana counts on. I will never use them again.

Will not make it right, even when they agree they are at fault
I've never used Carvana before, thought I would give it a try and hoped for the best. Initial delivery pickup was good however the car could have been cleaner, didn't look that clean on the outside, had some grease that was hard to get off the paint. But the experience went down hill from there. Car sunroof stopped working and the remote start was not on the keyfob but CLEARLY stated on the website that it had a remote start. So initiated the process to get these items fixed during my 7 day review of the car. Not a problem but a little frustrating at first. Went to the first Carvana approved "SilverRock" facility, which did not work on Alfa Romeos, as I had pointed out to the Carvana advocate I talked to the day before. But they said I had to follow the process and ended up wasting a couple hours and 25 miles of driving. Then we worked through a waiver to get the car to a dealer the next day... 50 miles away to get fixed, meanwhile Carvana was evaluating the keyfob screwup and ended up telling me that the car was priced as it was and basically all they could do is give me $100 for my troubles???? Has anyone priced a keyfob lately? Of course that doesn't touch the cost of a keyfob, especially for an Alfa Romeo. All of these back-and-forth discussions, driving car to get repaired, etc.. cost me time off work and stress for something that should have been a fun experience. Bottom line, Carvana said they could not cover the cost of a keyfob replacement AND recognized they should have removed the "Remote Start System" from the option of the car on the website. But they were still not going to fix it.. that's crazy poor customer services..makes no sense. So I'm sending the car back, still have to pick it up from the dealer.. another 100 miles round trip for my wife and I. I paid a "non-refundable" $1,800 shipping fee for this car, I will obviously argue that back and have been told by several of the Carvana Advocates that I should get it back but with the way their process works.. not so sure. Still not sure how much money this little exercise cost me. BE AWARE. You might be ok if everything works .. but you're screwed if they miss something on their "150 point" inspection or incorrectly characterize the vehicle on the website. Rest assured they will not correct their mistakes, even when they acknowledge them. It's ashamed too, I really liked the vehicle, but I can't tolerate poor customer service or poor integrity.

I purchased a 2014 Jeep Cherokee in November 2024. Every since I got this vehicle it's cost me more to repair it than what Im paying for it. Over 6,000 dollars in repairs and now transmission is done and the carvana essentials coverage don't cover the transmission. Don't fall for it, it's a rip off to get you in debt and the vehicle will die in 2-3 years!!!
Get credit together and go to a real dealership like Ford in Youngstown, Ohio. This is biggest regret!!!! Ask for Rob, he's trustworthy!!!

getting the proof of insurance and everything from GEICO before having my car delivered was the most frustrating experience of my life. the car was good, but next time i'll just go to a local dealer.
Sadly No
Sadly, the car that I purchased has a major defect that has shown up - it was in an accident prior to purchase, and that was not disclosed by Carvana. I bought the car in recovery from an accident and my travel has been limited, and I have spent thousands of dollars on this automobile, which has only become evident slowly and over time. Had the accident been disclosed, I am sure someone would have bought the auto at a lower price - but I would not have bought it. I regret buying it and will never shop with Carvana again, and I urge everyone NOT to do business with Carvana.

Car has a lot of mechanical issues
Car has a lot of mechanical issues. Wheel almost fell off according to mechanic. Car was NOT safe. Carvana has not agreed to fix. Inspection report does not match the car's condition. They will send adjuster but has not told us when, leaving us without a car for who knows how long.

If I could give Carvana zero stars I…
If I could give Carvana zero stars I would. Buying a car from them turned into one of the biggest headaches I’ve ever dealt with, and the vehicle I received should never have been sold in the first place.
I bought a 2016 Jaguar F-Type, and the process was shady from the start. I reserved the vehicle before photos were even available. When the photos finally went online, I was given a 48-hour window to make a decision, which puts a lot of pressure on the buyer. When the car was delivered, a noticeable amount of wear and tear was not shown in the photos at all. On top of that, Carvana claimed the car passed their “150-point inspection with flying colors,” which at this point feels like a complete joke.
Almost immediately after delivery the problems started. Within days the car had a coolant leak and had to go in for repair. It first went to Pep Boys where they found issues with the undercarriage and a cooling system leak. After that the problems never stopped. The car kept leaking coolant, throwing warning lights, and going back to the shop multiple times within the first few weeks of ownership.
Then it got worse. The car started smoking heavily, running rough, and eventually stalled in the middle of the road. Jaguar diagnosed the vehicle and found multiple cylinder misfires, excessive white smoke, and aftermarket parts in the cooling system, including a non-OEM water pump and coolant outlet pipes. That means this car had major prior repairs that were never disclosed, yet Carvana still sold it as if it passed their inspection.
There is no way a car in this condition should have made it through any real inspection, especially a performance car. Either the inspection never actually happened or it means absolutely nothing.
I lost weeks dealing with repair shops, phone calls, appointments, and not having a reliable vehicle. The only reason anything is finally getting handled is because the executive resolution team stepped in after the situation kept getting worse and worse. Until that point, it felt like I was stuck with a broken car and a loan on something that wasn’t even safe to drive.
Carvana advertises a “thorough inspection” and an easy buying experience, but my experience was the complete opposite. If you’re buying from them, especially anything high-end or performance, do not trust the inspection alone. Get your own mechanic to check the car immediately, because in my case this car should never have been sold at all.

I have now sold 2 vehicles to Carvana
I have sold 2 vehicle to Carvana and both times their offers were significantly better than their direct competitors.
I was not purchasing a car from them either time. The first time I opted for a check payment and the second time as a direct deposit. I had no issues with either sale. Both times the carrier contacted me to confirm pick up, was friendly and efficient, and there were no problems with the offer vs. payment. I definitely recommend at least getting an offer from Carvana if you're looking to sale a vehicle.
Fraud and lies
Carvana lies, they wanted me to write a fraudulent e-check, in order for it to be denied (an NSF e-check, which means they were asking me for my bank information and for me to commit fraud!), in order for them to be able to accept a cashier's check (I refused to write a fraudulent e-check). But days ago, one of their Advocates had already told me on the phone that they CAN take a cashier's check (without any mention of another payment being denied).
Today, after I had already uploaded pics of the cashier's check as asked (without having to write an NSF check), they said on the phone that they can't accept cashier's checks! They also don't accept any split payments (even if both payments are guaranteed). I asked to speak to higher ups twice, which they did do, but the 2nd higher up just said that they don't accept cashier's checks, and he apologized, and said he'd do something about the bad communication (lies, request for me to commit fraud, etc.). When I said I wanted compensation for my wasted time, energy, money, their lies, their asking me to commit fraud(!), he flat out refused, apologized again, and said the only thing he could possibly do was refund the $290 (non-refundable) shipping fee I had already paid a week ago in order to hold the car! Apologies mean absolutely nothing when appropriate action isn't taken.
I still have no car after more than a week of trying to do what they asked, asking for additional holds on the car I wanted so I could get the information they wanted, multiple hours on the phone (much of it on hold, with annoying, somewhat distorted music to listen to, and not the best phone connections from their end) with their employees and at least 2 higher ups, and in text, and on their site, and energy that I don't have, completely wasted, plus my $290 they can collect interest on for weeks. They discriminate against the majority of the population and against those with Disabilities or on a fixed income, by only accepting a direct bank transfer or through a lender, which means even more money we have to pay.
They will not get my business. I am wondering if a lawsuit is possible against them, since they record their phone calls, and obviously and admittedly lied to me, and at first said they couldn't refund the $290 after lying to me more than once.
The only positive is that everyone I spoke on the phone with was polite and at least tried to help, but some were given completely incorrect information, and I wonder what will happen to the confidential information (account I paid the $290 with, cashier's check pics, my location info., phone number, etc.) they still have about me.
Update: Their obviously automated/canned answer to many of the bad reviews of them further proves they don't care and don't actually look at reviews, and I seriously doubt they will change anything. I did get a text and email saying my $290 would be refunded (in 10-15 days!), but again, apologies mean nothing when they ask people to commit a felony, then renig on what they tell you they accept, as they keep your money for nearly a month, and give zero compensation after causing severe aggravation and stress, which is what we need least right now.
