SCAMeo.....Avoid. Avoid. Avoid Overcharged and Cameo refusing to refund and accept responsibility
Purchased a Cameo who confirmed the cost was £84.00. Made the purchase via Applepay - what I didn't see at the time was that they charged me £119.99.
Contacted Cameo who advised they can't help - they app charged 117.99 USD (which is not £119.99 btw) and said to contact Apple as they took the money. Apple advised they don't take payments on behalf of third party apps and that Cameo have the money and need to take responsibility.
My celebrity
My celebrity, I won't name names, did not fulfill the request in the allotted seven day window. I feel a week is more than enough time for pretty much anyone, particularly a washed up "rock star" to find 5 minutes out of their day and give a fan a lifelong memory. Oh well, lesson learned, won't be using them again
You will likely pay for a commercial not a message
I paid $375 for a message from Harvey Guillan from Whst We Do In the Shadows. This became more of a paid message for Harvey’s self promotion and less about the intention of the message. While the few portions where he was on topic, were good, the majority of the message was him talking about his projects. I didn’t pay for him to make a commercial about himself. He didn’t follow instructions. I suppose I should have written him a script, but I didn’t think it would’ve been necessary. I’m going to have to edit this before I share it. I asked for a partial refund where he promoted himself instead of sticking to the message. Cameo was not helpful and said that Harvey could do whatever he wanted. They also did not ask him to redo it, even though I said that this was an option. I would not recommend Harvey or Cameo. This is a racket.
Follow-up: I filled a claim through PayPal as a service that was not as described and it was closed in my favor with a partial refund. If you use Cameo, be certain to pay with PayPal in the event the talent doesn’t do what is advertised or Cameo is unhelpful.
Buyer, be wary!
We wished to use the Cameo platform to have a celebrity (Talent) send a video message to a friend who was under the weather. The order was placed and the app confirmed that the Talent had received the request.
We were aware that the Talent had 7 days to respond and we were also aware that the Talent was busy doing their job for the first part of the wait time as we watched the Talent doing their job live on TV.
However, it seemed less and less likely that the order was going to be fulfilled. We had ordered and paid but even with a 3 day extension added on, the order was still not fulfilled.
We had a mix of bot and human customer service interaction during the final days of the wait period, including the extension.
Ultimately, we have gone via Apple as our order was placed via the app to claim a refund.
What lessons have we learned from this initial foray into the world of Cameo have been:
1) Choose your Talent wisely. Although our chosen Talent had supportive reviews, there is no guarantee that the Talent will fulfil the order, as we ourselves found.
2) if offered the opportunity to interact with a human Customer Service team member, do it, although there is no definitive proof that you are not still communicating with a bot.
3) Our personal experience with the Cameo platform has resulted in us thinking “What’s the point as although we ordered and paid for the Talent’s 20-30 second video product, there is no guaranteed product at the end. The sad thing about this is that our friend who was to be the recipient of the Talent’s video, would have been surely uplifted by the video as our friend is a big fan of the Talent. This has now gone. Sad, very, very sad.

I ADORE Cameo support
Hello! I need to break the mold LOUDLY and say that cameos customer support is amazing. If you need to reach them its through their email, they replied within 24/hours. I wrote Tuesday morning on the 3rd and they responded in the evening. I was panicked due to ordering a cameo, (as you might know they can be a little pricy depending on who you order from) and there was a mixup from the talent, making the video unusable for valentine's. After reading the reviews and seeing mostly bad things I freaked, thinking that I wouldn't be able to get assistance in time or a refund to place a new order. I sent like 3 emails in a row pleading for help when in reality one would've sufficed since they came with a solution so quickly. 😅 They managed to redo my order for free and the talent fixed the video and really went above and beyond with the new one! My boyfriend will lose his mind on valentines, I cant wait to show him! I once again wanna thank the team and Nolan North for making our Valentine's so special, I will be using Cameo again!!

Ordered cancelled early. Zero help.
Ordered with 7 days for delivery. It was cancelled after 4 stating the artist ran out of time. A quick Google search shows this has happened to others, and seems to be a system error on Cameo's part. I emailed their customer support team, who's only advice was to rebook it again.
However if I do this, and it takes 7 days from today, this will be past the date I needed it by.
Customer service were quick to respond but offered no helpful solution. I won't be using or recommending Cameo. Which is a shame as if the experience had gone well, I am sure I would use it again, and recommended to others too.
No recourse for a refund if video no up to scratch
Terrible experience. No recourse to a refund if product quality is not satisfactory. Terrible video, message was really poor. Couldn’t send it on to the person. Waste of £200.
Pure Disappointment
Sent a request to Jac Yarrow as there were two available. After 5 days, was told it could not be completed in time. I was given the chance to give the artist more time, so I requested again. Another 5 days went by and I got the same email. If it's not favourable for the artist to complete this kind of thing, then it's best to remove themselves from the app. To give false hope to a young fan is really unfair.

Recipient has no control if video is public or not
The recipient of a Cameo video is not given the option to control whether their video is public or private. Consent from the purchaser is not the same as consent from the recipient. This is a privacy issue, not a preference. Please escalate this to product or legal, as the current design removes agency from the individual whose likeness and personal message are being published.

However recently I ordered a birthday greeting and waited and waited. It finally expired and then they wrote and said the talent is sorry and still wants to do the greeting. I waited and waited. Nothing. Here is the kicker. They charged me $16 to DM and ask if I would ever get the message! What a joke. BTW, the talent wrote back and said he promised today….. nothing. Birthday surprise blown

Absolute scam
Absolute scam! I have paid extra money for HD quality and received a video in the most lowest resolution possible!!
I also have paid for 24 hour delivery, which means I needed it quickly. The support is a joke, no one answers and no one wants to help.
And they do not give any refunds. So I just wanted my money and did not get a gift I was expecting.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
