Our mission
At Winona, it’s our goal to take the confusion out of menopause and help women get the solutions they need. We are a telehealth company that aims to empower, educate, and treat women throughout the entirety of their menopause journey. We offer doctor-prescribed, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy that is backed by science and shipped directly to your door.
How it works
First, we’ll gather your medical history to determine safety and eligibility. After you complete the onboarding process, we’ll connect you with a doctor in your state. The doctor will review your onboarding answers and prescribe personalized treatment accordingly. You’ll be able to message your doctor with questions or concerns anytime, directly through our platform. Once your doctor prescribes your medication, you will typically receive it within 2-5 business days.
What is HRT?
Hormone fluctuations are part of every woman’s life; from puberty to menopause, hormones spike and wane. As women enter the menopause transition in their late 30s and early 40s, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone begin to steadily decline, creating challenging symptoms.
There are over 100 symptoms associated with declining hormones in the menopause transition, some of the most common including hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a prescription treatment used to boost hormone levels, by replenishing the estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone that diminish over time. At Winona, we only use plant-based, bioidentical hormones that are identical in molecular structure to those made naturally in your body.

What is Menopause?
Throughout a woman’s life, the female hormones estrogen and progesterone are responsible for reproductive health and for supporting many of the tissues throughout the body. These hormones are produced in the ovary, when stimulated by the brain to do so. As a woman ages, the ovaries stop producing sex hormones at the same rate.
This can happen as early as in the late 30s or early 40s, and women may start to notice symptoms as a result of their changing hormones. Hormonal fluctuations may begin to cause irregularities in menstrual bleeding, mood swings, hot flashes, brain fog, changes in metabolism, and changes in sleep patterns. Some women may suffer from these types of symptoms for up to 10 years, before they finally complete the menopause transition.

An incredible experience
I started HRT in perimenopause and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. This came after dealing with severe symptoms and awful traditional OB-Gyns and predatory new womens health providers who ordered tons of labs (expensive and I was paying out of pocket) just to tell me "everything looked normal" and never even suggested HRT. WINONA empowered me to nake a change; the app and community make it easy to find support and resources, as well as stay in touch with doctor and ask questions (latter separately in secure portal). After 3 months of treatment I feel happier and more like the old me, which I feared I'd never feel again 🙏🏽❤️ Highly recommend.

Easy process
The ease of getting a prescription without a visit to a gynecologist. The dosage seems to be perfect so far. My only gripe would be not being able to use my health insurance for a lower cost for prescriptions.

The communication with the doctor was…
The communication with the doctor was not what I expected. I at least expected my name to be spelled correctly in communications. Also, my doctor thought the medications prescribed were a little aggressive which makes me wonder if medications were haphazardly given to me just to make money.

I appreciated the ease of access
I appreciated the ease of access to my doctor and the short amount of time it took for my chart to be reviewed. The medication was explained well as we're my other options. Unfortunately, with my line of work and constantly being in the water, I was unable to continue the treatment. I would definitely recommend or start again at a later time.

Felt a noticeable difference
Felt a noticeable difference! Took around 4 weeks to start to notice. I’m 2.5 months in and these are the changes for the better I’ve noticed so far -
Hair 100%
Energy 50%
Sex drive 20% which is good considering I was at negative infinity before
Sleep 50%
Night sweats and hot flashes!!! 90%!!!!
Mood 80%
Body 50% (meaning due to all the above positive changes it’s made me feel like moving more which in turns is making me “feel” lighter and less “pudgy” - not really concentrating on actual pounds right now
Bad effects so far
Only one - my chin is breaking out
But it’s exactly how it used to be before my hormones quit so we’ll see if that levels off
Still worth it for a couple chin pimples
Anyway
