My husband and I joined a finance mentorship 3 months ago called Budgetdog. 💴

It’s a 6 month course, and gets pretty in depth. We’re half way through, have fine tuned our budget, continued to pay off debt from the fire, been learning about investing, retirement plans, dollar cost averaging, the stock market, all that good stuff.

For the first time in, I think forever?? We have a buffer in place, are working to set up automatic payments where we can, and just executed our very first automatic investments to our retirement accounts. Now they’re set up to recur monthly and I don’t even have to think about it.

It’s been a lot of time we’ve invested in the class, live call, learning, and growing, but I feel like like for the first time we’re taking back control of our money, and not letting our money (or emotions) run us.

It’s not cheap, it’s an investmwnt, which for us felt a bit like a step backwards as we’ve zeroed in on paying off debt. Reflecting this morning, talking to him, I’m really glad we decided to invest in ourselves and future. And that we are learning and are our best advocates, not only are we avoiding unnecessary fees from a financial advisor, but we’re in control and understand what we’re doing.

They hold you accountable, there’s an online community, calls each week, tons of resources and online information. While I still feel like there’s so much to learn, I have at least a small understanding now, and it was really stressing me out that we’re both self employed without a real structure for retirement.

One of the big take aways is just not letting the unknown hold you back; because time is the biggest aspect here. Don’t try to time the market, set things up to happen automatically so you don’t make emotional decisions, and don’t panic sell lol.

I had been listening to Dave Ramsey for month’s, and I do really like him, but I’ve made so much more progress learning and putting a true system in place that also allows us to still live a life & not only be beans and rice, iykyk.

I don’t recommend people, mentorships, or programs easily. I haven’t even said a word until now publicly that we’ve been doing this so I could see some of the results myself.

Today our first automatic investments from our submitted & approved plan executed. That feels pretty dang good!

I’m really grateful for the progress we’ve seen in just 3 months, I know our future is going to be brighter because of it. Don’t let your finances control you, grab the reins, say yes to a change, be disciplined, open, and make a change! We’ve got this! 🎉

There is such a wealth of knowledge here. My wife and I were so overwhelmed with debt and complex financial literacy that even when the money came in we made so many mistakes on how to handle it. The systems Budgetdog have created really work and we are on track to be debt free in a couple years and I already have an investment strategy in place for when we are financially ready. They really help you make decisions and teach you about finances without being pushy and telling you what you have to do. The community is excited for all the wins and not just the really big ones. The accountability really keeps pushing you forward. Note that if you aren't willing to work on yourself and your finances this isn't for you. If your tired of feeling stuck and like you can't make progress, I can vouge that this will help. Its been lifechanging for me and my family!

I appreciate the pacing of the program. It doesn't overwhelm you at all.

All the coaches are great and the tools/information given in the program will definitely set you up to succeed. The systems placed on autopilot ,ake everything so easy. You have to be able to put in the work but this program definitely works. I would recommend to anyone trying to reach their financial goals.

I wasn’t going to post this but I was encouraged to do so. In just 1 month of joining Budgetdog academy, my net worth has increased by $21K. Normally I wouldn’t have noticed or celebrated that, but being in the Academy has made me much more aware of my progress and overall picture.
I’ve also been very mindful of my spending and consistently updating my actual cash flow in the budget spreadsheet. I couldn’t be happier that I’ve actually stopped sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else win and finally got in the game to win alongside everyone else in the Budgetdog academy.

Though everyone’s circumstances vary, everything we learn and use is easily customizable to our needs and GROWTH because the money DOES come!

In our first year, we paid off $77K of debt (that’s not a typo)! Logistically, we are literally in control of our budget, retirement and investments but the real benefit and win out of all this really is the KNOWLEDGE that we plan to pass down to our kids. Since we started, our mindset and view on money has been flipped upside down.

The things you wish they taught you in high school, the things you want to know but are presented to you in the most confusing, uptight, textbook fashion are all debunked with Budgetdog. BUDGETDOG IS A CHEAT CODE without actually cheating you out of anything!! Brennan, Tom and the entire Budgetdog team are all real people! It’s an absolute gift and blessing to be able to talk finances to anyone from the team so casually. There’s no intimidation and they just want to see you succeed! Their actions match their words, their sentiments are genuine, your results are real!

Great program so far. Budgetdog is comprehensive and broken down to a level where you truly feel there are no “stupid questions”. The team is helpful and responsive. We are already more confident and it’s been less than 2 months.

Joining Budget Dog Academy has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our finances. We genuinely thought we were “good with money”… and wow, were we wrong. In the best way. My partner and I were already pretty savvy investors, but I wanted to learn how to retire early, by age 55 or sooner. We also wanted to access investment opportunities that we knew existed but did not know how to reach.

Budget Dog Academy delivered!

Through the coursework, I learned to prioritize my retirement goals over my wants and to stop unnecessary spending. I now know I am on track to retire by 53. In a couple of years, as some of the investments demonstrate their performance, I may be able to retire at 50! To say that realistically is amazing. My goal to retire early is no longer a dream.

For the first time in my 44 years, I’m actually following a budget. My spending dropped from $15k to under $5k, I consolidated my debt, and my credit score jumped to 832. Even though I was skeptical at first, joining the Academy has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I can’t wait to learn more and see more financial wins in the upcoming weeks!

Still early on in the program but so happy to be a part of this community. This has given us the push we need to get started on accomplishing our goals and hopefully achieving financial freedom!

An extremely organized step by step guide to get your financials in order. I was someone that knew my position but didn’t know how to invest on my own and take control. Now I take care of everything on my own without paying a financial advisor and can give a date on when I will be able to comfortably retire! The education is ongoing and something I will keep up with long after my 6 months in the class is over.

We are halfway through our journey and have been pleased, we cannot wait to see where it takes us. We have been taught different systems and changed our ideas about money in general. We are excited for the road ahead, thanks again!

BudgetDog Academy has been a great experience in personal finance. The program teaches foundational financial cornerstones familiar to most (e.g., a budget), frames out necessary financial knowledge to understand how to succeed with money, and then helps students build out and customize their own wealth-building systems suited to their needs and goals. BDA provides well-organized, digestible content, and works to meet students wherever they are. There are tons of awesome personal finance tools and resources compiled for students’ benefit. The BDA staff is supportive and committed to students’ success—24/7. Finally, the ongoing community aspect of the program is incredibly special and an unexpected element of the program. Highly recommend BDA as an investment in self and future.
