Brooksby Medical is a CQC-registered private blood testing service founded by Dr James Coleman (BSc, MB ChB, MRCGP) — a practising NHS GP based in Leicestershire. We exist because too many private blood tests come back as a wall of numbers and acronyms, with no one to talk to when something doesn't add up. We do things differently: every result is reviewed and signed off personally by Dr Coleman, every customer receives a plain-English report explaining what their numbers mean, and every test includes an optional follow-up consultation with a doctor — not as a paid add-on, but as standard. You can choose how you're tested: a home finger-prick kit posted to your door, a professional venous draw at one of 70+ Superdrug Nurse Clinics across the UK, or a home visit from a qualified phlebotomist at a time that suits. Whichever route you pick, results land in your secure portal in 2 to 3 working days, and your follow-up consultation can be booked at your convenience — by phone or video. Our 36+ tests cover the full range of preventive and diagnostic medicine — from foundational checks (full blood count, lipid profile, vitamin D) to specialist panels for hormones, fertility, men's and women's health, prostate cancer screening, bowel cancer screening, and cardiovascular risk. We don't upsell, we don't gate-keep results, and we never send a report without a doctor signing it off. Modern care, traditional values.

Outstanding service from Brooksby Medical
Outstanding service from Dr James Coleman at Brooksby Medical — I cannot recommend him highly enough for the service he provided over the Bank Holiday. My mother urgently required a GP letter to confirm a medical issue so she could take a wheelchair on an upcoming cruise. We were told her NHS GP could take 5–6 weeks to provide this, and with the cruise due to leave on Friday this was needed for P&O within days, not weeks. Dr Coleman stepped in and delivered exactly what we needed within 24 hours — over the weekend as well. That level of responsiveness alone was incredibly impressive.
He conducted a very detailed and professional telephone consultation, carefully discussing my mother’s current condition, her temporary mobility limitations, and the reasons behind needing a wheelchair. He was thorough, attentive, and clearly very knowledgeable, even suggesting a few helpful points for us to follow up with her regular GP in due course. Most importantly, he produced a clear, detailed, and well-structured medical letter that was accepted without issue by the cruise company. It gave us complete peace of mind at what could have been a very stressful time. Considering the urgency and the quality of service, his fees were more than reasonable.
A truly first-class, professional, and personal service — exactly what you hope for but rarely experience.
