Bran Castle Anmeldelser 

We visited Bran Castle on the 2nd November 2026. I would highly recommend purchasing the wheel tour plus fast track passes to avoid the queues.

Bran Castle is, in my opinion, one of the biggest tourist traps I’ve ever visited. As a historical castle, it was a huge disappointment.
Much of the castle has been heavily altered over the years, leaving very little of its original character. On top of the already expensive entrance fee, you have to pay extra to visit certain museum sections, which feels like nothing more than another way to squeeze money out of visitors.
The biggest disappointment is the obsession with Dracula, ghosts, and werewolves. Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure often linked to Dracula, never lived in Bran Castle. Yet the entire experience is built around this myth, with cheap, kitschy displays that have very little to do with the castle’s actual history.
To make matters worse, the crowds are overwhelming. You spend most of your visit shuffling through narrow corridors in a long line, surrounded by noise and large tour groups. There is hardly any opportunity to appreciate the building or enjoy the atmosphere.
If you’re looking for an authentic historical experience, I would strongly recommend spending your time elsewhere. Bran Castle has become a commercial attraction driven by hype rather than history. For me, it was a complete disappointment and nowhere near worth the crowds or the price.

I recently visited Bran Castle and booked a guided tour, which turned out to be an excellent decision. Our guide, Sebastian, was absolutely brilliant. He was incredibly knowledgeable, answered all of our questions with ease, and brought the history to life in a way that was both engaging and informative.

Thanks to him, we learned so much—not only about the castle itself, but also about Romanian history and the story of Vlad the Impaler. The experience genuinely changed our perspective and gave us a much deeper understanding of the historical context behind the legends.

The castle itself is magnifique—beautiful, atmospheric, and full of character. I would highly recommend both visiting Bran Castle and opting for a guided tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have someone like Sebastian leading it.

A stunning Castle, we will go back one day to spend more time as it seemed as though we didn’t have enough time to take it all in. Easily got there in an uber from Braşov Train station. Lots of gift shops and plenty to see around the grounds too.
