These pies are genuinely excellent - and that's from a fussy Yorkshireman living "down south" and missing the taste of home. I bought my Dad 2x Meat and Potato, 2x Cheese and Onion and 2x Steak Puddi... Vis mer

Nice selection of pies
Nice selection of pies. Well packaged and labelled. Good price with the starter pack offer for 6 pies but probably wouldn't pay as much as the regular price.

Thanks for the review, Michael. Great to hear you enjoyed the pies and found the taster box good value. If you order again, our Build a Pie Box offer is a handy way to mix and match your favourites at a better price.

Great quality produce but online prices higher
Great quality produce. I'm not sure why the pies are so much more expensive to buy for delivery compared to the shop as post and packaging is charged separately. I think due example the steak is £3.25 in the shop but £5.45 online and then postage is added on top. Would be five stars if they charged shop prices then added p+p on top.

Thanks so much for your review Ant, and for saying you enjoy the quality of our pies, that really means a lot.
Just to clear one thing up first, our steak pies in the shop are £4.50, not £3.25, so I think there might’ve been a mix up on the price there. That said, we completely get where you’re coming from on the online costs.
The reason there’s a small difference is because posting pies safely isn’t cheap - the insulated box, foil lining and cool packs alone come in at around £11 per order, before you even add in the online payment and website fees. That’s why online prices look a little higher compared to picking them up in person.
We’ve kept delivery as low as we can at £4.95, and it’s free if you’re ordering over £50. Hopefully that explains things a bit better.
We really do appreciate your feedback though and we’ll always be as open and fair as we can.

Glad to hear you enjoyed most of your pies Tony, and especially the pork. Sorry the cheese & onion wasn’t quite your cup of tea (or pie!) this time. Tastes do differ but we’ll keep an eye on the balance there. Appreciate the kind words and we’ll look forward to baking for you again soon.

Pork Pies Quality Issue
Normally I buy every weekend pork and whist pies from Bowens, put a few weeks ago after buying 4 pork pies I noticed when I got home that the pastry was like rubber and when I took a bite of the pie there was a strange smell. All four pork pies were the same and had to be thrown out. However the whist pies were excellent as normal.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, Graeme. I'm very sorry to hear that the pork pies did not hit the mark this time. This sounds very out of the ordinary for our pork pies, so if you could please give me an email - support@bowenpies.co.uk - with more information (such as which shop you purchased them from and what date). That way, we can investigate this further to ensure that the quality is of a high standard as usual, going forward.
So great to hear that you enjoyed the whist pies as usual.

I have been on a quest for quite a while now to find a pie company that can produce a pie I enjoy! I ordered a selection from Bowen pies to try. I did find the individual pork pie a little bland but I should have ordered a family size one to try. However, the cheese and onion slice was sublime. The meat and potato pie was delicious even though I’ve never tried them before and tonight we had the chunky steak pie and again we were very impressed. I for once will be ordering a second batch and will be inviting my family to try them as well. We are looking forward to our next batch delivery.
