Excellent accommodation / location / facilities

The cottage is very well fitted out and comfortable, my only complaints would be that the pillows in the main bedroom need to be changed as they smell. And the second bedroom is rather eccentric and would not be suitable for an older person.

A perfect stay — the cottage felt like home with all the amenities of a hotel. Stunning countryside views over fields of sheep and lambs, yet only a stone’s throw from a lovely local pub, farm shops, and Oxford city centre.

The living spaces were beautifully designed and generously sized, making it a joy to cook, relax, and spend time together. The garden was ideal for our little ones, and the cosy bedrooms (with amazing mattresses and bedding) meant even the kids slept through!

The hosts were warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.

The cottage was everything we needed for a family summer holiday — highly recommended

We stayed at The Weir House in Symonds Yat. Great location for all sorts of outdoor activities and the accommodation was spotless!

Will definitely be using Bolthole Retreats again!

The property was in a great location, just a 10 minute walk into Bourton-on-the-Water. As a family of six adults and a two year old and a small dog, South Winds was perfect for us all. Plenty of space, well equipped kitchen, good size bedrooms, with good ensuite facilities.

The only criticism that we have is that the house could have been cleaner, on the surface it was fine, but a deep clean is needed as some areas were pretty grubby. Also, a little tlc wouldn't go amiss, but all in all, a great stay for us and we would definitely return. Thank you Bolthole Retreats!

We loved the location. Generally loved the house. Garden was a nice feature but it needs tending. Front door lock is very awkward to maneuver and better instructions about it need to be included in the welcome guide. Bathroom floors needed a more thorough cleaning. Coffee maker was very temperamental. Floors in dining area need new grout. All minor concerns. Thanks for asking for our feedback.

The Calf Pens was an amazing vacation rental. It was exactly as advertised and exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect size for 2 adults and 2 kids, very homey feel and well appointed. My daughters were especially excited about the working farm aspect of the property which gave them the opportunity to be up close to many animals. Clive and Lydia were gracious hosts. It was conveniently located to many points of interest in the Cotswolds, about an hour drive to Bath and a short 15 minutes to other charming villages. We didn’t have enough time here to fully enjoy it and would definitely go back!! Thank you for a most wonderful stay!

The cottage is quaint and very beautiful, well-maintained, and equipped with all comforts. Shampoo and shower gel, towels, a hairdryer, and everything you need for washing dishes and using the dishwasher are provided. The owners are friendly and helpful. One tip: the crib for our daughter didn't have a mattress, making it a bit uncomfortable, and we had to bring our own sheets. A high chair would also have been handy. Lastly, it's not possible to park on the street because the space is reserved for residents. You would need to indicate this in the house details or provide a permit to park (we didn't know this and got a fine!) Overall, it was a great stay, in a convenient location for visiting the Cotswolds, and the town itself is also equipped with restaurants, bars, and a supermarket that's open late. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place the Hayloft is - there was nothing we needed, the place is equipped with everything you could wish for during your stay. The grandchildren absolutely loved the garden. Winchcombe is on the doorstep with its wonderful array of independant shops - lovely bakery and too many pubs for us to get around in our time there!

We have just stayed at The Tractor Shed for the last week with the entire family. Five adults and fuve children. The accommodation was fantastic with enough showers, spacious bedrooms and large living rooms, plus outside spaces, for us all. We took up the option of onsite catering for our arrival date, (and also departure) which was easily arranged and we could all just start our holiday and relax. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. I would thoroughly recommend this as a holiday or event destination.

Clear and accurate description of the property along with easy to understand instructions on all aspects of the property.

We had a wonderful few days at Antelope Cottage with our two young daughters. The cottage was clean, cosy, and perfectly located for exploring the Cotswolds.

The pastries and cakes were absolutely delicious, Thank you!

We loved the peaceful charm of Northleach and can highly recommend both local pubs.

A great holiday in the beautiful Cotswolds at the Coppice. The instructions for the house location were easily followed. Once parked up in the spacious forecourt we were amazed by the house set in a huge peaceful garden. The birds were singing and Red Kites were clearly visible in the sky. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the family in the beautiful spacious house which has a lot to offer.

Bedrooms all had nice furniture, sheets towels; (robes provided) all rooms had fans

Front door needs attention, was a job to lock and unlock (important when taking expensive bikes as we did)
attention needed for downstairs shower room , shower a job to regulate hot /cold
Bath mat needs replacing
Shower ceiling paint coming off
needs regular checks of toilet brushes as the one in our room was awful
Lovely touch was the Bottle of Prosecco, Crisps and Chocolates

Just back from a fabulous stay in a bolthole retreat house, Old Manse.
Beautiful location, amazing house will definitely return

We had a wonderful time! The Cottage was really cosy and has everything that we need. The beds are good and the location 5 minutes walk to the town.
The attention was really great, our daughter forgot her stuffed Owl and the response to send it back home was quick and very friendly!
For sure we'll come back!

Lovely spot, spacious accommodation, comfy beds with good cotton sheets, everything you need for cooking for a big group, friendly staff.

The house was amazing and the setting was perfect. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Would recommend this property in a heart beat. Well worth the extra spend.

We stayed at Hillside Cottage, Tetbury for a long weekend.

Pros - Good location
Plenty of parking
House was supplied with things we weren't
expecting, which improved the overall
vacation, for example, shampoo and
conditioner

Cons - Very steep Hill
Stairs (two) were incredibly steep with only a
handrail on one of the staircases
No bathroom lock
House needed a very good deep clean
Garden was particularly overgrown
Maintenance of house would be better
Couldn't get oven to light without a match
The bath needed a rubber mat
Bedroom mirrors were lacking
Very little bedroom storage

Don't get me wrong, we had a lovely weekend exploring the Cotswolds, and the house was situated well for this. However, with very little cost and a bit of thought, the house could be so much better. It is not suitable for anyone with any physical health issues.

From start to finish the experience of booking with Bolthole Retreats was a great experience.

Lovely cottage in perfect location. It’s in a lovely village which has few other authentic Cotswold cottage’s.
The cottage itself is nice and has all the things you need. I suggested to the owner to have additional chairs and supplies.
Would definitely recommend and come again.
