Disappointing experience at Birmingham…

Disappointing experience at Birmingham Car Park 1

After returning from what had been a wonderful holiday, our experience leaving Car Park 1 at Birmingham Airport unfortunately ended on a very sour note.

We had pre-booked parking from 3rd March until 12th March, intending to arrive late on the 3rd. Unfortunately, due to a road traffic accident on the way, we didn’t actually arrive until the early hours of the 4th March.

When we went to exit the car park on the 12th around midday, we were surprised to be told we had to pay an additional £64 for “overstaying.”

After querying this, it appears the booking system had defaulted the times to 00:00 (midnight) on both the 3rd and the 12th, effectively meaning the system believed our booking ended at the very start of the 12th rather than during the day. Because of this, the system treated our midday exit as an overstay, despite the fact that we had actually arrived later than planned and used fewer hours than booked.

A member of staff kindly came down to speak with us and was polite and helpful, which we appreciated. However, when we asked to speak to a manager, the conversation had to take place over a speaker rather than in person. The manager refused to come down and was unhelpful and dismissive, stating that “this happens all the time.”

My response was that if this happens all the time, then clearly there is a problem with the booking system or how times are set by default, and customers should not be penalised because of it.

It was disappointing to end our trip with an unexpected £64 charge and an unhelpful response from management. Hopefully this issue with booking times can be reviewed so other customers don’t experience the same situation.

£9.50 for 5min rip off soulless company!

ok so as their website states carpark 5 is the easiest to drop off & meet people traveling to & from Birmingham airport, making it seem that's where one drops off people without having to park up. also states that if you are just doing a drop off you have 10min until you get charged. so today went into carpark 5 spend max of 5min if that, pulled up to the barrier to exit & nothing happened so i buzzed on the intercom only to find out that the drop off isn't in carpark 5 but next to it a couple of metres away over a central barrier & by the looks of it with a different entrance. so the chap on the intercom being cold as ice just told me reverse back and go to the payment machine obviously NCP could see from their number plate recognition cameras that i was there for no longer than 5 min just dropping off relatives but still would not budge so had to pay a rip off charge of £9.50 for 5min. for someone who is not familiar with this company & how they do business in this airport DO NOT GO IN ANY OF THEIR BIRMINGHAM CARPARKS IF YOU INTEND TO JUST DROP OFF. DO NOT MAKE ANY HUMAN ERRORS OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED A MIN OF £9.50 FROM THE FIRST SECOND TO THE FIRST HOUR THE GATE BARRIER CLOSES BEHIND YOU! NO SOUL JUST ANOTHER MONEY MAKING CORPORATION. NEVER AGAIN!

On the 9th January 2026 with the awful…

On the 9th January 2026 with the awful snowstorm we decided to drive to Birmingham airport booked parking at a cost of £89 .On arrival back to Birmingham airport on the 16th of January ,they would not let us out until we paid an extra £63 ,my 64 year old dyslexic partner had not put 13:00 hours he put 1pm as our departure time from the carpark.I .It was awful people shouting behind us as they wanted to leave the carpark.There was no help at all just bullying .They had our flight details knew the times I bet the robbing nasty people were rubbing there hands together .Trying to complain you cant this awful illegal behaviour needs to be stopped.It was honestly a horrible situation you pay the fees and then treated like a criminal.I wish we would have stopped for longer ,we pulled over after we came out of the carpark to calm down expecting a trail of cars behind us from the people who had been shouting nothing ,I wish I had have gone back because I think they were having the same issue as us .Never again will I use them and also I will tell everyone I know Robbing awful NCP Should not be allowed .

Twice we have used car park 5 at…

Twice we have used car park 5 at Birmingham. Shuttle bus to the terminal....what Shuttle bus? Supposed to run every 10/15 minutes....we waited 40 mins in minus temperature to then have a bus drive into the car park & so we decided to walk to said bus but no driver. We ended up walking to the terminal! Waste of time. This is the second time it's happened but waited ages at the terminal to get a return bus to car park 5....ended up walking as bus didn't appear after 30 mins! Won't use Birmingham airport again for this reason

Valet parking meet and greet at Birmingham …

My Audi A6 car is my pride and joy and I treat it with respect…

I do not expect your parking attendants to use my car for rallying…

I drove 380 mile to Birminghams valet parking and everything in the boot and car stayed exactly where it always stays…

Your guys drove my car 13.5 mile in total and everything in the boot etc was like it’s been thrown literally everywhere, this is not how I would expect anyone to treat a paying customers property…

Birmingham Airport Free Drop off…

Birmingham Airport Free Drop off facility
Avoid at all costs. Back in August I attempted to use this facility, upon entering I was immediately faced with a long que of traffic at the entrance, the facility states 10 mins for a free drop off and after seeing the que I decided to drive straight out, however because I now had to que to leave it took 10 mins and 30 seconds (according to NCP fine details) to exit. I have tried to appeal to NCP, who in turn have not responded and passed it onto a debt recovery firm. I have tried to appeal to them and they said they could not deal with this and passed it onto a legal firm, I am now trying to appeal to them and this is almost impossible to deal with. I suspect they make it this difficult so you eventually give in and pay what is now £170 fine. It surely has to be the responsibility of NCP to provide sufficient access to and from the car park to achieve the 10 mins free service otherwise its just a scam to get people to park and then fine them.

Damaged our car at Valet parking by…

Damaged our car at Valet parking by opening another car door into ours, causing a dent and blue paint from the other vehicle. Fobbed us off for not noticing it when we collected. It was nearly midnight, tired family and children, wet, poorly lit and car was dirty. I would never use the service again, and if you value your car, you wouldn't either. They won't share the photos they take of your car at the start, which tells you everything you need to know about integrity. Use at your peril!

Paid in advance 7 days parking with flight No etc nothing was flagged that we would not arrive back until 30 mins into 8th day! Told by customer service that you have 2hr either way! Would Not let me out until I pay £63 for a whole 24hrs?Thank you NCP

Rip Off Charges

We prebooked carpark 5 at Birmingham Airport from Tuesday 23rd Sept at 11.30am through to Friday 26th September at 02.00am (allowing 2 hours extra for any potential issues)
Due to a long delay on the first flight causing us to miss our connecting flight and having to spend the night in Barcelona Airport. We then incurred an extra charge for alternative flights home through no fault of our own arriving back at Birmingham Airport at 10.54am on Friday 26th September. Before being allowed to leave the airport we had to pay an overstay charge of £61 which l find extortionate for the few extra hours as the original booking was only £77.39 for the whole planned stay. When l called Customer Services to query the cost l was told that this is a set overstay charge and nothing could be done about it. I did expect to pay something extra due to the overstay even though it was beyond our control but think that £61 is an absolute rip off and a joke. I certainly won't be using NCP anytime soon. Beware of these extra charges!!!!

Absolutely disgusting what they are…

Absolutely disgusting what they are charging. I went to collect my elderly parents at just after midnight. I collected them from the closest car park due to Mum being in a wheelchair. It cost £42 for 25 mins! The cheaper parking was a good 10-15 min walk away for my Dad who is 85. Sickening and you should be ashamed. Airports in Europe wouldn’t be that to park for a week! Last month I parked outside Departures in Toulouse airport for 48 hours and it cost €19.60!!

Parked with valet parking

Parked with valet parking. Would never do it again. Just canceled parking for next year. Car damage and they just want to do nothing. Airparks the company. Shame as used there car parks before. Had no problem with them before. After response from them. Think twice about booking with them

If I could give a minus score that…

If I could give a minus score that would be accurate.
Pre booking on the on line pre booking system is useless.
The platform registration for departure from Car Park 1 was incorrect and my attempt to amend and correct the time has been a nightmare.
The site did not recognise my booking reference and as I could not access the pre booking, I turned to emailing the web sites customer service to assist me.
As yet there has been no confirmation of receipt of my email and no response
What is the point of offering a pre booking system? and more over why state on the web site that by booking a flexible parking ticket you can amend your booking, when you can not gain access to amend the ticket,
I think that this is a way of NCP, who operate the car parks on behalf of Birmingham Airport to gain excess time charges and make more profit.
Alas , it is a monopoly on behalf of NCP
Wake up Birmingham Airport and get to grips with NCP ,as your operators of your car parks ( It’s your reputation that is being effected by NCP’ incompetence )
I still await customer services to respond to my email, and hopefully the Bot may wake up shortly and before my trip ( I am not expecting them to do so though)
And it looks as though I will have to pay excess over charges, despite NCP’s incompetence

Awful Experience - Long Waits, No Support

We parked in Car Park 5 to avoid a long bus journey, expecting quick and easy transfers. Unfortunately, it was anything but. When we arrived, we waited nearly 30 minutes for the shuttle bus—even though it’s advertised as every 10–15 minutes. There was no support available and no contact number to check if the bus was even coming.

With a toddler and several suitcases, walking might have actually been faster—if we hadn’t been so loaded down.

On our return to the UK, we had to wait again for about 20 minutes for a bus back to the car park.

The whole experience was frustrating and poorly managed. Definitely wouldn’t use Birmingham Airport Parking again.

THIS CAR PARK IS NOT SECURE

Terrible experience THIS CAR PARK IS NOT SAFE. Attempt to steel my car was unsuccessful due to security device fitted but they’ve done thousands in damages the car was parked where there are “regular security patrols and 24/7 CCTV” neither deterred the thieves. The car is very unusual and was parked in the middle amongst hundreds of other cars so either someone made the thieves aware of my car being there or they spent hours wandering around without regular security patrols noticing. No surprise NCP will take no responsibility. I would find away to avoid the auto exit that helps take the car away. I noticed when searching i found a public info request suggesting thefts are not unusual from this park.

DO NOT USE NCP CAR PARKS

Arrived home on schedule at 22.30 on a very cold Thursday night. Six weeks before had pre-booked car park 5, took 3 attempts, every time I requested 23.00 departure from the car park the NCP system changed the time to 00.00. Thought their system automatically must change it to midnight so accepted it. Low and behold at the set time the barrier would not open. Had to get out of my car and use the intercom to talk to a NCP employee, they said I had overstayed, my time was 00.00 of that day, not midnight. 10-15 minutes later they would not listen to my argument it was their system at fault, so had to pay £61 to get released from the car park and told to take it up with their customer services. The next day I spoke to their call centre, it was in the Philippines, they could not understand me and I could not understand them. Emailed NCP 9 days ago and still no reply. I would recommend people do not use NCP car parks at Birmingham airport, they deliberately fob you off and get as much money out of you as they can
