Casa do Lago, villa Anmeldelser 

Last year whilst looking for an accessible villa in Europe as two of our family are wheelchair users I found Casa do Lago so booked a year in advance. I communicated with Carlos by email and he was helpful and understanding. He organised a power chair for our stay as I didn’t want to travel with mine.
As the taxi turned down the drive the view across the lagoon was breathtaking. Every room has floor to ceiling windows and doors facing the lagoon with those on the first floor having balconies.
Carlos was there to welcome us even though our flight had been delayed. During our stay he was always reachable and any issues (all minor) were sorted straightaway.
The villa was clean and fresh, well thought out and accessible. On arrival there was a bottle of red and white wine, lager and beer crisps and soft drinks. Bread, cheese, and milk and a wide variety of herbs and spices and all cleaning products that you would need for your stay. This was very welcome as it was quite late.
The children’s playground was great and the pool warm and a very good size. A great deal of thought had been put into the safety aspects for children. The pool and sun bed area were surrounded by clear barriers with childproof doors and the shallow end had a below water barrier. The hoist worked very well and there were plenty of noodles and floats.
We had the perfect family holiday. We visited the local beach which was wheelchair accessible and used the sandchairs to get into the sea. The evenings were spent sitting outside having dinner and a drink chatting whilst listening to the frogs in the pond and watching the sunset.
We will return next year.

A fantastic house in a wonderful location.
The house was equipped with everything we needed and more! It was clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated.
This house truly catered for all of our needs. It was fully accessible and very good for multi generational living.
The pool was really good and the playpark kept our grandson amused.
There are lots of beaches nearby and we were also close enough for a visit to Lisbon and the beautiful medieval town of Obidos.
Our host was welcoming and very helpful and had left a welcome pack of food and drink in the house. We chose the location because of the facilities which the house offered but were really impressed with the area and everything it had to offer. A memorable and enjoyable holiday.

This was a return visit to Casa do Lago for our extended family. Once again everything was terrific. Carlos is a great host who responds quickly to all enquiries and issues. All financial arrangements are communicated clearly and deposits returned immediately.

The villa itself is fantastic and accessible for disabled guests

The main room is huge and comfortable. All the bedrooms are a good size and the kitchen is well-equipped. There are two fridges and two dishwashers - ideal for large groups.

The outside area has a large infinity pool with a hoist for disabled guests and a very shallow end for young children. There is a playground for them too - as well as a crazy golf course.

The view over the bay is amazing. The town of Foz do Alreha is very close by with good restaurants along the front and the usual smaller supermarkets, pharmacies, bars and cafes. The beach is definitely worth a visit.

A larger town Calda da Rainhas is about 5-6km away where we did our "big" shopping - Aldi, Intermarche, and Le Clerc are within a few hundred metres of each other.

We had a wonderful stay at Carlos's accessible villa, Casa do Lago, Portugal. The villa was spacious, spotless, comfortable, and exceptionally well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, making it easy to prepare meals during our stay.
As an accessible property, it exceeded our expectations. The pool hoist was excellent and made it possible for everyone to enjoy the swimming pool with confidence. The nearby beach, just a five-minute drive away, also offers amphibious wheelchairs, making this a fantastic destination for anyone looking for an accessible holiday.
Carlos was an outstanding host—friendly, welcoming, and incredibly thoughtful. As we were arriving very late, he kindly left us some food and a bottle of wine, which was such a generous gesture and very much appreciated after a long journey. Nothing was too much trouble, and he made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The grounds are beautiful and perfect for families, with a children's play area, a lovely swimming pool, and a peaceful pond full of fish and frogs. The views from the villa are absolutely stunning and one of the highlights of our stay. The villa is set on a hill, so we would recommend having a car to get around, but it's only a five-minute drive to the beach and other local attractions.
We can't recommend Carlos and his villa highly enough. It was the perfect combination of comfort, accessibility, and a peaceful location with breathtaking views. Thank you, Carlos, for making our holiday so memorable—we hope to return again soon!

I stayed at Casa do Lago for the third time and, once again, had a very positive experience. The house was very clean, well organized, and well maintained. It is clear that the property is being looked after with care and attention. It is a very pleasant place and ideal for families, with everything needed for a peaceful stay. I also love the location, as it is close to the golf courses in Praia D'el Rey. I would definitely recommend it.

We have just returned from our second stay in this villa. The first one was in June 2024 and by then we have enjoyed very happy days, although now it was even better because the villa was all revised. At our arrival it was very clean and organised.. My father who is on wheelchair has loved the stay. I can not recommend enough. This is an ideal spot for family holidays.

We had the most amazing stay here in October 2025. Carlos was very communicative, helpful, and the property was exactly what we needed. Extremely well equipped for accessibility needs, and large families / groups. Perfect location near the coast with good amenities and restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend and would love to stay again!

Magical experience. Really loved it. Staff were amazing.

The villa is in a fantastic location over-looking the lagoon. Bedrooms are spacious, main room is huge. Kitchen has 2 fridge-freezers and 2 dishwashers which made our lives (a group of 9) much easier.

Plenty of room for dining outside, either on the main patio or round the corner at the grill area.

The swimming-pool is huge and has a child-safe very shallow end.

Accessibility in the villa and around the garden and pool is great. There is a hoist for the pool.

Local village is lovely, completely different vibe from Algarve - much more chilled. Good selection of beachside cafes and restaurants. Plenty of smaller supermarkets.

For the big shopping trips, the larger supermarkets are about 10mins away.

We were a group of 10, with 5 grown up kids in their early twenties that stayed at the Villa a week in early July.
Villa held a high standard in general. We especially appreciated spacious bedrooms incl bathrooms, the pool, the views and that there were 2 fridges and dishwashers.
Carlos was very quick to respond to all questions ahead of our stay.

The bicycles in the Villa are very basic and quite small, if you plan to go for longer rides you should rent more suitable ones.
Foz has very limited services, and several of the restaurants were closed during hours they appeared open on their homepages. We ended up using the cars every single day during our week in early July. Uber is available in the area, and that was very convenient.

The Villa and area is perfect for disabled and for families with smaller kids.

What a superb holiday villa! We have spent 20 years searching for a disabled adapted villa with a big enough pool and no lips on door frames. We have finally found our perfect holiday venue. Simply stunning views and super comfortable beds with crisp white line. The villa was immaculately clean and well appointed. It has a fabulous utility room with great washing machine/ dryer. Carlos was a superb communicator, utterly reliable and a true gentleman. He came to our rescue when we have a problem with cars and sorted out a replacement transport.

We will definitely rebook!

Brilliant villa for families with young children! Amazing news! Spacious indoor and outdoor areas! Pool is fantastic with the smaller section, and all very safe. Lots of activities to keep the kids busy! Beautiful nearby beach with playground and great restaurants! Carlos was very helpful and communicative. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future!

A casa é extremamente bem localizada em termos de paisagem, local calmo muito aprazível para um grupo grande ou mesmopara uma familia grande onde desde o neto ao avôpode partilhar experiências em conjunto para o gosto de todos.Totalmente bem equipada para pessoas com dificuldades motoras , cozinha muito bem apetrechada, quartos espaçosos muito limpos, barbecue para se poder approveitar o espaço exterior.
Enfim recomendo a quem quiser passar umas férias de sonho.

Éramos um grupo de 9 pessoas: eu e meu marido, nossos pais, mais 2 amigos e nossos 3 filhos. A vila foi perfeita para o nosso grupo e atendeu a todas as nossas necessidades.
A propriedade está muito bem conservada, embora o minigolfe necessite de uma revisão. Carlos, o proprietário, prometeu fazer isso o mais rápido possível.
Na nossa chegada, a propriedade estava muito limpa e a água da piscina estava quente e agradável.
O proprietário providenciou transferências adaptadas para o aeroporto sem problemas.
A governanta foi muito prestativa.
Esta foi com certeza uma semana perfeita para todos, especialmente para as crianças! Eles continuam nos pedindo para repetir e acho que faremos!
Certamente recomendaremos esta propriedade aos nossos amigos.

Stunning location with 180 degree views of the lagoon, surrounding coastline hills and the Atlantic ocean in the distance.
The villa is not new. It is not luxurious but very functional, fantastically well equipped and perfect for large parties with young children.
It is quiet and peaceful with plenty of communal space for socialising inside and out. We used all 5 bedrooms and bathrooms for our party of 10 plus a baby.

All areas downstairs are directly wheelchair accessible and as a bonus, upstairs as well courtesy of the steep entrance driveway or the footpath and ramp to the side of the villa.
The kitchen is not huge for large parties. Utensils and pots and pans in abundance, plus two dishwashers and fridges.
Lots of bikes, pool toys, table tennis table, beach toys, catering for most needs.
A car is necessary for excursions and larger supermarket shopping. A small supermarket is a 25 minute downhill walk away. The way back is steep. Not suitable for anybody with walking difficulties but €4 in an Uber made it very easy. We brought our own powered wheelchair, hired a mobility scooter and both coped easily with the hills.
We had very good lunchtime meals at two restaurants - Tavola and Cais da Praia, both reached after a 30minute stroll - downhill.
Carlos the owner was reachable by phone and WhatsApp, responding quickly to any questions or requests.

This property could be amazing. It was VERY DIRTY on arrival. Sadly it has not had any money spent on it for a while. Everything was worn out. The pan were dangerous as the non stick was coming off, though we did get two new ones when I pointed this out. The utensils were in very bad condition. The rugs on the floor were disgusting. The gym is non existant. Crazy golf barely more so.
This is a shame as the location was fabulous and the space was incredible, perfect for a multi generational family of 10. If this villa were refurbished and clean it would be five starwould
