Do not hire!
Total mistake hiring Beltway Home Improvements to work on our brick front steps.
Patrick came through our neighborhood knocking on doors and handing out flyers, saying Beltway Home Improvements was already working on another home nearby. He was very personable and seemed eager to drum up more work for his business.
He quoted us $1,200 to repair our brick front steps, including repairing all cracked mortar joints, replacing any loose bricks, and repairing or replacing several cracked or damaged bricks. And we agreed to that price for all of the repairs listed above. Unfortunately, only about 1/3 of the promised work was completed, and what was done was of VERY poor quality.
The worker Patrick brought to our home spent under ONE HOUR on the entire job. And based on the poor workmanship, I doubt he actually had any masonry experience. Mortar was applied sloppily, with excess mortar smeared across the faces of the bricks. Many cracked mortar joints were left untouched, damaged bricks were never repaired or replaced, as promised, and the finished work looked rushed and unprofessional. A child could have done this! Even worse, much of the newly applied mortar began cracking within the first week.
Despite the incomplete and poor-quality work, Patrick charged us the full $1,200. He would only accept cash or a personal check as payment . He also promised to return to finish the repairs and provide an invoice, but neither ever happened.
Based on this experience, I have serious concerns about the professionalism and ethics of this “business”. I was never provided an invoice, and never received any email response from the company.
We paid for work that was never completed and received workmanship that fell far below what was promised. Now we have to spend even more money to have another contractor remove the poor-quality repairs and do the job correctly.
We got ripped off. Learn from our mistake. Do not hire this company.
