Terrible business practices - you might never get your record!
Was looking online for a copy of a record I'd recently discovered and saw a few for sale on various websites for ~£35+. Found Banquet records had a copy for £23.99 + shipping. I snapped it up.
A week later I had yet to receive any email updates. My friend works at a record store (he couldn't get a copy for me either) and said "Banquet? Good luck with that. They do this all the time...they advertise records they don't have as "in stock" then when someone buys it they try and order it in...if their supplier doesn't have it you could be waiting until it's repressed, assuming it gets repressed."
I was concerned by this so I sent an email to enquire about my order. I received a swift reply essentially confirming what my friend had said. They made it sound like they were expecting the record any day now...so I thought I'll wait it out, as other copies of the record had gone up in price since I initially searched.
A month later...an email update! Exciting! Presumably they've finally shipped my record!
Nope.
Not even close. They emailed me after 5 weeks to tell me my order was "delayed" yeah...you don't say...
Fast forward to today: I placed my order more than 2 months ago...and have received nothing. I cancelled about an hour ago. The price of the record on other sites has gone up so they've lost me money if anything.
I have no idea how they believe such terrible business practices are acceptable. Hell, anyone could say they're a "record store" if they did this. "Want a record? Sure I can get you it, £30 please" and then try and buy it elsewhere? What the hell is that.
Needless to say I won't be buying any records from them again, as how do I know I will ever receive anything? I might just end up short ~£30 for a couple months. Like I've loaned it to a mate, except when he pays it back he'll at least buy me a beer as thanks.

No further correspondence from them and when I contacted to say still haven't received the vinyl and they haven't contacted to offer refund or to send an alternative album as clearly NOT getting my order, didn't hear from them. Husband sent them a Whatsapp message to enquire about stock and got a reply back within 10 minutes, I then Whatsapped with my order details and explained I'd emailed and not heard etc... haven't heard a peep from them but they've seen my message. Won't be buying from them again. AVOID

I ordered an LP that their website said was in stock. They never sent it to me and kept me waiting. Eventually I asked them where it was and they said their supplier was sending it to them. I waited and after asking them again, they said it was on order and they didn't know when it would be with them. In the meantime all other shops sold out of the LP, which is now unavailable. I will not trust or buy from Banquet Records again.
Great when they're great, bad when they're bad
I've been shopping at banquet for a few years now as they end up with all the exclusives the other indies don't, which is a price you have to pay, if you're not going in store you're playing a game of "will i get my order" and when that's no "will i get my money back", at least 2 occasions i've fallen for their "fake preorders" where they say they have an item in stock or on back order, but it's actually with their German supplier which they *might* not be able to get what you want from keeping your money for 12+ months at a time without any update, at points where i've had to bank chargeback my orders as they've refused to refund these items they're clearly never getting in.
When you do get your order, pray there are no issues as they will fight you tooth and nail to not help you, i had records damaged due to them being shipped too tightly in the mailer and banquet refused to assist, blaming a loose "terms and conditions" policy when the damage was clearly done by whoever packed the items.
Only buy from them if you plan on going into their shop, avoid their fake pre-order system like the plague.

Banquet is always my first port of call when I’ve got my eye on a new record! I’ve been a customer for years now and genuinely couldn’t fault the team at Banquet Records. All of my orders have been processed and dispatched in a timely manner (even in busy sales periods!), records have always been packed thoughtfully and securely, and I love the attention to detail they put in (I’m a huge The 1975 fan and loved the handwritten lyrics on the packaging of the ILIWYS Anniversary Pressing - made my day!). They really go the extra mile and it shows they care about what they do!
On the single occasion I had an issue with an item (a manufacturer issue with the record itself, no fault of the store) the customer service response was quick and attentive and I was offered a reasonable and straightforward solution.
Just wish I was local so I could pop in to the store, but as for online orders - 10/10 from me! Thank you :)
Yet another failure in dispatch
Yet another failure in dispatch. I really shouldn't give them another chance.
On a number of vinyl purchases the has been a delay, sometimes the delay can be weeks (I've cancelled some orderes in the end). Every order recently has necessitated emails to actually get the item dispatched.
They really are the worse online store for delivery I've encountered - their prices are competitive, and that draws you in to another disappointing experience.
My advice is pay a bit more aand use another store, even, and I hate to say this, use Amazon, or go through eBay

I ordered a preordered CD and an LP. There was issues with stock, which I didn’t found out about until I contacted the team - they next reached out to update me.
I got the LP and was told CD was preorder… months later I check online store and cd is sold out… I then message the team and I am refunded.
They are always fairly quick to respond and polite. But the stock management is terrible and they seem chaotic to me. If I hadn’t of kept checking, would they have updated me? Probably not. But I can’t be bothered doing this - I have a busy life - I want to order and trust it will arrive with minimum fuss, if there is an issue the company will update me. Not the case I’m afraid. I would not recommend them as a result. I wish them the best and that they sort their systems out.

SCAM!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME! I made order in November and was reassured loads of times that my order is on its way etc but it’s blatant lies, I’d avoid this company at all costs unless you like having to chase for a refund or to resolve the problem! AVOID!
Best record store for online purchases
I have never had any problems ordering from banquet and I’ve been buying my records from there for several years. The records are always packaged well and are never damaged upon arrival. They are great during record store day and always have special editions in stock. Preorders are always sent on time and usually arrive on the day of release.
Won't be a returning customer
Ordered a cd + signed poster on the 24th of Jan got email on the 29th saying it had been dispatched even though they said orders wasn't being shipped until the 30th, sent email to confirm it had been dispatched, they wrote back saying yes it had and everything is OK but days later item still hasn't arrived, they have not replied back to my emails and now noticed on my order on the website that it has gone from showing as dispatched to outstanding which clearly proves they never dispatched the order!! As a new customer I will never return to the website and I've now contacted my bank to help with the refund

Yuck! Showed as in stock. Waited over a week. Emailed ‘Where is it?…’Out of stock’ they said. Why was it showing as IN STOCK?? Refunded. Just checked, still showing as in stock. Pathetic
Good physical shop but poor online service
Banquet Records the actual physical shop is really nice record shop with a good selection of records and other merchandise, and rightfully have a good reputation as mainstays in the local music community which they support, especially through their gigs at prism. It’s also great they regularly do artist in stores and signings.
Their online shop seems to trade off this reputation and is a different matter. A number of orders I have made online can take 2 weeks plus to be delivered, I only live down the road! Recently, I paid for an album online only to receive an email 10 days later telling me it was out of stock and I’d have to wait for an undetermined time for it to turn up. This kind of service seems to be even worse at busy times of year or post record store day - it can be galling to be waiting for your order and see the shop bragging about their sales on line or obviously taking on volumes of orders they can’t dispatch in a reasonable time frame.
Staff in the shop are generally friendly but again their online service can at times seem abrupt and aloof.
Misrepresenting stock position
I ordered a box set just before Christmas which was shown as 'in stock'. In common with several other reviews here this item wasn't actually in stock and they had to go to their supplier 'especially'.
I have now had an email, with no apology, informing me that they are issuing a refund.
Banquet, please stop misrepresenting your stock position and wasting your customers' time.
I try to support independents when I can, and have not had such a poor customer experience from Crash Records, Norman Records or even the dreaded Amazon.
I won't be ordering from you in future and strongly recommend others to do the same.

Made a few purchases from the Banquet website over the years and never had an issue. Everything has been packed well and arrived in reasonable time (On this occasion it actually arrived later than expected but it was because of the snow so not their fault!). Prices are as good as anywhere else. I'd always have a look on Banquet for a new record.
Fantastic experience
Fantastic experience. The option to buy personally signed records is amazing and really shows the care for music fans.
This is actually my second order with Banquet Records, and I’ve never had a single issue. Super fast delivery from the UK to Germany — received in just four working days, which is exceptional. Everything arrived perfectly packed and exactly as expected.
Based on my own experience, I can only recommend them and I’ll definitely remain a loyal customer.

Received a CD without the signed card I payed for
This is my first time buying from the site and I am very dissappointed. I have ordered a few items, one of which (Luke Hemmings CD) was delivered with a big crack on the frond of the case. The second thing was a 5 Seconds of Summer 'Not OK" CD with a signed card, which was delivered WITHOUT the signed card!! This is truly devastating, I payed for three delivery fees to get them to my country and it would cost a lot to return or even receive another package from them. The delivery would be more than the iteam itself, because I have already payed for three delivery fees.
