Axa loves gaslighting their customers

On one call their support agent says send us photos of the cracked tiles and we will cover it. On the next the other support agent says “I don’t know what they told you but we don’t cover cracked tiles”, and the loop continues. Their emergency home team does not even look at the roof, but apparently just from looking at the leak from the inside they write a report saying the roof is so and so and the issue is this and that, while not having even seen the roof from the top.

Horrible. I’m going to switch away my home and bike insurance from these guys.

Rang up about my house insurance cover as i have had a roof tile dislodged and it came away from ridge tile . I idnt know you can have 4 emergency call outs a year without affecting NCB. Girl on the phone took the details and a guy phoned me 20 minutes later , came to look at it and said he will be back tommorow to repair the roof for me , top class service !

The call outs are worth up to 500 each

Had insurance policy with axa business,
Unfortunately business was damaged due to fire and they won’t pay me even half money due to there terms and conditions. Very bad….. not recommended.

Motor insurance and Home Insurance with AXA for years, no claims, no points, 5 different policies in this house. Recent renewal 780 euro. On calling they reduced to 760....car is older, no claims and they've increased policy by 180 euro since last year! No customer service provided or trying to save customer relationship.

What a shambles of a company to deal with, avoid !
My car was stolen but dealing with these cowboys made it ten times worse. Lost my car for 2 weeks then given the run around trying to get paid out after they wrote it off.
So unhelpful and disorganised that I cancelled mine and my wife’s policy never to return. Would rather pay double in premiums than deal with this shower again !

Had two dealings with them in the last year or so with my car. Put petrol into the diesel tank & locked my keys into my car. Both times they were very quick to answer, had someone out in the hour and doesn’t affect any claims. Very happy with them

I had a leak in upstairs shower water running down walls so informed AXA they sent out an assessor who agreed with the damage as genuine sent in all requested documents to be told not covered shower fitted over 20 years ago never a problem or have I ever claimed on house policy’s left holding all the bills myself changing car home van policies next time round 😡

Went on line to get a quote (€1300) for my small farm, contacted AXA to do the deal but they revised it to €1850. What a waste of my time.

Axa is not renewing my car Insurance, there is an open claim with them since November 2025, another car hit my car and run, i gave all the details they asked and still they didn't resolve. So now i am not able to renew my insurance anywhere with this open claim and also i lost my 8 year no claim bonus.

Very disappointing experience with AXA Ireland.

When I joined AXA, they acknowledged that I had 4 years No Claims Bonus from previous insurers. Unfortunately, during the application I accidentally entered 3 years instead of 4. Despite AXA knowing I had 4 years, they refused to amend the policy because the mistake was made by me — even though it resulted in me paying more money.

What frustrates me most is the double standard. If I had accidentally overstated my No Claims Bonus, I have no doubt the policy would have been corrected immediately and my premium increased. But because the mistake benefited AXA financially, no effort was made to help resolve it.

I also had several frustrating phone calls with customer service. I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager or someone who could actually assist, but this was never allowed. The staff were unhelpful and the overall experience felt dismissive and unfair.

Very poor customer service and extremely disappointing handling of what should have been a straightforward issue.

Update: After speaking with the head of my local branch in Waterford, Steven Hayes, the issue was resolved within 24 hours. He corrected the No Claims Bonus issue and arranged for a refund of the amount I had overpaid.

This was a completely different experience compared to dealing with the phone support team. Steven was professional, helpful, and actually took the time to understand and resolve the issue properly.

I would strongly recommend that if anyone is struggling to get help through the phone centre, contact or visit your local branch instead. In my experience, they are far more helpful and better qualified to deal with issues directly.

I’m extremely dissatisfied. They asked me for my years of driving experience and my no-claims bonus history. I entered everything correctly, they gave me a price according that data, I paid the deposit, and they even sent me all the policy documents.

Now they are saying that because I had a claim two years ago — which was only a minor scratch on another car’s bumper — they are wiping out my driving history and refusing to recognise my 7 years of driving experience.

AXA gives you a price, verifies your information with documents, lets you complete the contract and once everything is arranged and paid, they call you to tell you that the price will be €300 more per year.

Do not take out insurance with AXA. They change the price after you sign up.

It’s a scam.

Another stellar customer service performance today at Axa Cork office. NIcola was professional, efficient and extremely friendly and courteous.

Over 38 mins on hold to ask a simple question about my insurance - when will these companies realise that sometimes we just need to talk to them and that email is not always the solution - so frustrating but have used to time well to look at alternative quotes with other companies

If there was 0 stars I'd pick that. Axa are a disgrace. Quoted myself online with the same details and got a renewal quote for 500 euro more than that. Then they refuse to match online quotes by finding a sneaky silly way of avoiding it. Long waits when you call speaking to a computer. Absolutely no loyalty to customers I have been with thrm 5 years and never had a good experience contacting them. Just a disgrace all round and no help whatsoever. Tip - don't go anywhere near them.

The claim hasn't been closed for 3 years already, when I call them, they just tell me that they don't know anything the worst insurance company in Ireland.

I’m extremely unhappy. I rented a car and AXA was the insurance hired. I had opened a ticket to get a reimbursement as they have told me to do. It says they get back in contact within 5 working days. It’s been 17 days with no answer. When I called the customer service, they said they can’t find the policy or the claim in their system, so nothing they can do, which is ridiculous as I have it all on my emails. I’ll never use their services again.

Formal complaint submitted 22 March 2026. Acknowledged same day. Zero substantive response after 10 business days. Case referred to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman

Appalling service...14th & again 15th April 2026...Having pressed all the buttons to be directed to the relevant car insurance section,& having waited on hold for approx 10mins I then speak with an Axa agent who explains that the staff are all busy but if I leave my number somebody will get back to me...Two messages left as invited on two seperate days nd still no call back...Shame on u AXA..Appaling service..My business has now been placed with another supplier who very much appreciated my business...

I had my car insured with Axa this year. I forgot to send in the documents and without any notice my car insurance was cancelled 2 weeks before I noticed. When I phoned them, the customer service and help was shockingly bad. I'd never go with Axa again. Serious breach on their side.
