Very disappointing experience with AVEC Rent a Car (SAW Istanbul).

We had reserved a baby seat in advance (option selected and confirmed by email after providing our child’s size and weight). Upon arrival, no baby seat was available. No alternative solution was offered (no attempt to check with other rental companies, no proactive support), which resulted in a loss of 1.5 to 2 hours after a long flight. We were even forced to drive several kilometers with our 2.5-year-old child without proper safety equipment, which is completely unacceptable.

The company hides behind a “subject to availability” clause, but in practice, this reflects a clear lack of organization. A basic tracking system for baby seats (even a simple Excel file) would easily prevent this kind of situation.

We had no choice but to purchase a baby seat ourselves (95€), with no compensation offered by the agency.

At the counter, staff were able to speak English, but the personnel in the parking area (vehicle handover) did not speak English at all, which made the situation more difficult. I was asked to sign several documents without clear explanation. Additionally, the vehicle photos in the contract are taken from too far away and do not properly show existing damages. I had to send detailed photos myself immediately to protect against potential disputes.

Another issue: the windshield washer reservoir was filled with plain water instead of proper washer fluid, which made it extremely difficult and unsafe to clean the windshield while driving on the highway.

Regarding toll charges (HGS), the total amount is high. While the breakdown generally matches the route taken, additional service fees are applied on each toll.

Finally, customer service is rigid and not solution-oriented. Despite a clearly problematic situation, no meaningful compensation was offered.

Overall: lack of preparation, poor on-site execution, communication issues, and a stressful experience. I do not recommend this company.

Ich wollte nett sein und habe meine Abholtzeit etwas später gesetzt. Ich kam 15 Minuten vor dieser Zeit. Das System hat es nicht erlaubt mir das Auto auszuhändigen. Ich musste also bis Mitternacht warten. Das Ganze schien den Mitarbeiter auch noch zu amüsieren.

Größter dreck ever. Abzocke ohne Ende. Finger weg von so einem Laden.

Mycket bra service och fräscha bilar. Alltid väl bemötande. Har hyrt bilar där i tolv år. Antalya flygplats.

Ich kann Avec Rent a Car uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und werde definitiv wieder hier mieten! 🚗✨

man kann vor Anmietung eines Fahrzeuges bei dieser Firma nur warnem. Ich habe am 30.05.2025 ein Fahrzeug bei dieser Firma angemietet und die 150.-EUR Kaution per Kreditkarte hinterlegt. Bis heute, 23.07.2025, warte ich auf die Rückerstattung der Kaution, obwohl bei Rückgabe des Fahrzeuges "alles in Ordnung" bestätigt wurde. Trotz mehrerer Nachfragen habe ich bis dato noch nicht einmal Antwort auf meine Nachfragen erhalten. Absolute Sauerei sich auf diese Art zu bereichern. Da muss man schon von Betrug ausgehen. Vielleicht passiert ja doch noch etwas.

Returned the car in exactly same condition as when picked up with a full tank of fuel. Avec have not returned my deposit. I have emails from them agreeing deposit should be repaid. They claim it was refunded but I sent a credit card statement proving this was not true. They then claim the refund transaction was refused because the card was blocked.This is utter rubbish and when asked to provide proof they don't. Dealing with Avec is difficult because they ignore most emails and WhatsApp messages.

This company are deceitful, dishonest, uncommunicative and tell lies.

Am besten gar keinen Stern vergeben seit Ende Mai 2025 warte ich immer noch auf meine Kaution . Leute ich habe es bereut . Empfehle es zu 1 Million ab

Bij het ophalen van de auto op de luchthaven van istanbul opgewacht door een man met een iPad die zegt: ondertekenen! Op onze vraag wat we dan ondertekenen weigert hij te antwoorden. Als we zeggen eerst het voertuig te willen controleren rolt hij met zijn ogen, zucht en zegt no time. 3 minuten later staat hij wel een sigaretje te roken.
Ook de extra verzekering is best prijzig.
Geen aanrader dus!

I returned the vehicle without any damage and fuel depot was full as we agreed with this company.And also they have charged Euro 125 deposit beginning of the rental process.Normally,other rental car providers just hold the money but don’t charge it and release within the shortest possible time.I haven’t received deposit refund yet till now despite more than a month passed.I have done a number of phone calls and email correspondence to these guys.And nothing happened till now.This is not an institutional company but a backyard dealer.They don’t refund the deposit especially when you are a visitor from abroad.Not trustworthy,avoid like plague.They are stealing your money and don’t feel ashamed.

AVEC Car rental service from Istanbul Airport was easy and fuss free. The car booked was received in excellent condition and full of fuel. The staff at AVEC were very helpful giving us instruction on the best way to leave the airport. Vehicle deposit was reasonable, and back into our account within 7 days after hire, less tolls. They even invoiced us the HGS Toll amounts so we were thoroughly clear and happy. Wouldn’t use anyone else. Excellent transparent service!

Would avoid Avec car rental Dalaman .
We hired a car for 10 days . Took it back have had to wait 2 weeks to get our deposit refunded . We booked through Booking.com . We had to get them involved to solve issue . Lots of emails unnecessary correspondence . Our deposits kept showing a debit instead of credit . Poor service and ‘ sloppy’ admin . Should not have to chase to get deposit back other companies it has been back in account within days .

Ich hatte einen Mietwagen über Expedia gebucht. Leider konnte ich den Wagen nicht abholen,da es anscheinend „NUR“ mit einer Kreditkarte geht!!!! Egal was ich gesagt habe bzw angeboten habe, konnte ich den Wagen nicht abholen!!! Das ist einfach nur Schwachsinn!!!! Nicht jeder Mensch besitzt eine Kreditkarte!!!!!!!! Ich hoffe, dass ich mein Geld noch zurück bekomme!!!!

Ich habe 2024 ein Auto bei einer Firma namens Avec gemietet und hatte einen Unfall. 100 0 Obwohl ich Recht hatte, sagten sie, dass die Versicherung nicht zahlen würde, weil ich zum Zeitpunkt des Unfalls unwissentlich den Musterbogen ausgefüllt hatte. Sie sagten auch, dass sie mir das darin enthaltene Geld nicht geben würden und mir die Kosten in Rechnung stellen würden. Kurz gesagt, sie haben 150 € nicht bezahlt, diese Firma ist betrügerisch und ich kann sie überhaupt nicht empfehlen. Mieten Sie kein Auto von dieser Firma

We rented a car for 23 days in Turkey with Avec in October 2024. We dropped the car off in Kaysari and flew to Istanbul for 6 nights. I received no closing documents in Kaysari from Avec. We boarded a flight to go home in Canada and approximately half way home we received an email from Avec that would allow us to claim a VAT refund for over $200 CAD at the Istanbul Airport. I tried numerous times to get Avec and or Discover Cars to assist with the VAT refund as it was delivered late. Both Avec and Discover Cars pointed fingers at each other but delivered no help what so ever. I would assume both would have known if there was a suitable process for claiming this VAT refund from Turkey once you have exited the country. Both organizations offered no insights, solutions or anything close to help. Beware of their poor after service and invoicing.

Leider kann ich diese Autovermietung AVEC absolut nicht empfehlen. Hier meine Erfahrung:

Ich habe bei diesem Unternehmen ein Fahrzeug gemietet, und dabei wurde ein deutlich höherer Betrag von meiner Kreditkarte abgebucht, als ursprünglich vereinbart. Trotz mehrfacher Versuche, Kontakt aufzunehmen, um den zu viel abgebuchten Betrag zurückzuerhalten, reagiert das Unternehmen weder auf meine Nachrichten noch auf Anrufe.

Ein solcher Umgang mit Kunden ist völlig inakzeptabel. Es scheint, als ob das Unternehmen bewusst versucht, Kunden zu täuschen und unrechtmäßig Geld einzubehalten. Ich rate dringend davon ab, bei dieser Autovermietung ein Fahrzeug zu buchen.

Transparenz und Kundenservice sollten für jedes seriöse Unternehmen an oberster Stelle stehen – hier fehlen beide komplett.

Fazit: Finger weg!

When you fill in a complaint that your replacement car had problems, won't get back to you either. Your account for future rentals will be blocked. Childish unprofessional company. Avoid at all cost.

Avoid. Their car broke down and they charged me the excess!! £900!!

Wir waren sehr zufrieden.
Wir haben das Auto am Flughafen Izmir entgegengenommen
Das Auto hatte erst 12.000 km drauf und entsprach der gebuchten Kategorie (SUV und war ein Peugeot 3008).
Das Fahrzeug war gut ausgestattet (Panoramadach, Android Auto, Sitzheizung, 360° Kamera).
Die Rückgabe verlief problemlos.
Bei der Abholung mussten wir den Schalter etwas suchen, da sich der Schalter im Domestic Terminal befindet und wir am International-Terminal ankamen.
Der Herr bei der Autoübergabe gab uns noch 3 kostenlose Flaschen Wasser.
Die Rückerstattung der Kaution dauert gut 1 Woche.
Es wurde nicht versucht uns eine Versicherung zu verkaufen. Alles entspannt.
Gerne wieder Avec in der Türkei.

I booked a car, but was given another car, with no prior notice.
The service at the airport was extremely rude and unhelpful.
They took all my credit card information, including the CVC number, which felt very unsafe.
They charged my credit card without explaining the reason or getting my consent.
The car itself was in poor condition.
I strongly advise against using this service
