If I could give zero stars- an ongoing unresolved dispute
If I could give zero stars, I would!
I am sharing our family’s experience of purchasing a vehicle from Automatic Motors Ltd on behalf of my sister. I would strongly encourage prospective customers to read this before making a purchase.
Before buying the vehicle, my sister specifically questioned previous MOT failures relating to the engine management light. The dealership assured her in writing that an AA inspection would be carried out, any issues would be rectified, and an AA inspection report would be supplied before delivery.
The vehicle was delivered on 19 August 2026. No AA inspection report was provided.
Within a week, the engine management light came on, the vehicle experienced significant loss of power while driving, and the central locking was not working.
My sister formally rejected the vehicle on 30 August 2026 under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
The dealership insisted that it needed to inspect the vehicle and subsequently offered to arrange collection for £240. We accepted the proposed collection arrangement while disputing responsibility for the charge. Despite repeated emails and requests, we are still waiting for a confirmed collection date.
The telephone experience has been particularly frustrating. We have been told to end the call and telephone again so that a specific team can answer. In our experience, following that instruction has not resulted in reaching the promised team or resolving the complaint. It has simply meant making further calls without progress.
We have also contacted the additional company email address printed on the sales invoice and addressed our correspondence to the company’s director. We have not received a substantive response through that route either.
We have repeatedly asked one straightforward question: Was the promised AA inspection actually carried out before delivery? The dealership has still not confirmed whether it took place or provided the report.
The vehicle remains available for inspection, but the dealership has not confirmed collection arrangements. The dispute remains unresolved, and we are pursuing the appropriate complaint and recovery processes.
My advice to prospective buyers is to obtain every promised inspection report and supporting document before paying or accepting delivery. Keep copies of all messages and promises made during the sale.
This review reflects our experience as of 16 September 2026. I will update it if the dealership provides the outstanding information or resolves the matter.
