Unfortunately, after being a customer for so many years, I feel that I now need to make a complaint about the service I received at the butcher counter.

On 30 July 2026, at around 3:30 pm, I went to the butcher counter and purchased beef liver, which, by the way, is not exactly a cheap product.

I was served by a gentleman who I found to be extremely rude. I am not referring simply to a lack of politeness, but to the way I felt I was treated. I had the impression that, as soon as he realised that I am not English, he immediately decided that I was not worth his time or attention.

At one point, I tried to make a friendly joke because the amount of liver that was already on the tray was exactly the amount I had asked for. He completely ignored me.

After weighing the liver, he threw the tray onto the counter in a way that made me feel as though he was saying, “There you go. Take it and leave.”

I have lived in this country for 20 years, I speak English, and I treat everyone with respect, regardless of their background or appearance. That is why it is extremely upsetting to feel that, even today, people can still be treated differently simply because they do not look English.

I cannot say for certain what this employee’s intention was, but the way I was treated made me feel discriminated against and disrespected. I sincerely hope that this matter will be taken seriously and that the staff will be reminded of the importance of treating every customer with the same level of respect and courtesy, regardless of their nationality, background, or appearance.

After being a customer for so many years, I expected much better treatment.

Excellent selection of produce for Christmas and delivery service - 5 stars to everyone at Aldens!

We have used Aldens butchers for many years. The staff are always very helpful and knowledgeable Skippy know his stuff as do the other staff members. We will not go anywhere else as we know we are getting top notch meats . This years pies Christmas 2025 are far the best very tasty thank you Mathew and team hopping for a delicious 2026

We're a small local charity and we place a large order every Christmas as part of a hamper initiative we organise. We buy approx 100 each of Turkeys and packs of Pigs in Blankets. The product quality is always excellent and the prices are fair. 100% reliable. Every delivery driver we've had has been on time, friendly and professional - as have the staff in the office. Aldens constantly check we are happy too - they clearly care about customer service - so deserve to do well. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

We ordered turkey breast & large topside of beef & steaks Christmas 2025, great value, both meats were delicious & very good communication about delivery. Will be ordering again this new year.

Used to think Aldens were brilliant, good value for money and always a good selection. However, in recent months things haven't been great. They've put up the price of their meat boxes online by a huge amount (£30+ extra on one box) and when we've been into the store, the choice just hasn't been that brilliant. Shame really because, up until now, they used to be excellent.

We regularly buy meat boxes from Aldens, and portion then vacuum pack the meat to our own requirements. It works out about 30% less than buying the equivalent value products from a supermarket, whilst being much higher quality, and lasting much longer. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I have been buying my meats especially for Christmas from Aldens for few years now and would like to carry on buying from them in the future. Quality is excellent, value for money, meat is well presented and deliveries are flawless. What more is there to ask for?

Ordered once again for Christmas 2024. Turkey, chicken, lamb, all the trimmings and more. Excellent quality and value for money. Would order more regularly if delivery was offered at other times.

Highly recommend. Fantastic value as long as you have a fridge/freezer big enough. The quality and cost of the meat, veg and fruit is incredible. For the last 6 years we've ordered our Christmas meat from Aldens - great value and always exceeds our expectations!

I ordered my 'Christmas meat' for the first time this year and wasn't disappointed. The turkey was good quality as was the rest of the produce. I will definitely be using Alden's again. Their delivery service also worked very well. 10 out of 10!
