Great tour which included most sites that one would want to visit. Nice mix of tour and rest days. Lovely hotel. Very well run by tour staff.

A very positive experience from start to finish. All details of my holiday (Costa Brava and Barcelona) were expertly handled and the included guided tours were really enjoyable. I learned so much more compared to visiting locations alone. Our designated guide was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Great holiday in Vietnam and Cambodia, great guides in both destinations particularly Mr Hung in Vietnam followed by a lovely guide April for our one day whistle stop tour of Bangkok. Overall a wonderful experience, really good quality hotels , especially the hotel in Siem Reap Cambodia. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and I will be booking another holiday with Travel Department.

Just home from our egypt trip which included a cruise pyramids,temples and many other highlights.We had an amazing trip which was made even more amazing by our tour guide Emad 'Dodi 'Fathy his expertise in egyptology was first class and had us completely engrossed at every site.If you are thinking of travelling to this beautiful country look no further than this trip you won't be disappointed and you'll have an excellent guide in Dodi.

The trip was well organized and every day was enjoyable. It was amazing to be in South Africa. The 3 day safari at the end of the trip was just great. The group were lovely and everyone got on well. Food was lovely too. The trip exceeded all expectations. I can highly recommend the Cape Town, Garden Route and Safari holiday.

We have recently returned from the Egyptian tour of Cairo and seven day Nile cruise. I can only describe it as truly amazing this experience was greatly enhanced by our Egyptian guide Dodi who’s local knowledge and experience along with a fantastic sense of humour made the trip absolutely incredible.

We have just returned home from a cruise along the Nile which included visits to many temples and places of interest. Our tour guide, Dodi Fathy, was truly excellent and made sure that we got the most out of the trip. Dodi’s knowledge of ancient Egyptian history is very comprehensive and this greatly enhanced our experience at each tour stop. Dodi was very engaging and always on hand to help us with any queries. He greatly enhanced our enjoyment of this amazing tour.

Most important our tour leader Miriam Judge was a great source of information and little tips for making the best use of our time ashore.

Just back from another fantastic solo trip with the Travel Department. This time a tour to Dubrovnik with an add on day trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina.

We got off to a bumpy start with our Aer Lingus flight not being able to land twice due to windy conditions and then being diverted to Rimini Fellini airport in Italy. Thankfully the weather changed so we managed to arrive only 3 hours late which considering everything was not too bad.

It was a relief after a long day to be welcomed in Croatia by the local tour guide who proceeded to take us under his wing and take care of us for the next seven days.

I initially thought 7 days in Dubrovnik might be too long but in reality there is so much to see and do you could easily stay another week.

We had a half day guided tour of the old town, a full day boat trip to the Elaphite Islands including Lopud and Koločep, a full day trip with a guided tour to the extremely pretty and historic Korčula, a day of leisure and lastly the day trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Highlights included the boozy lunch on the boat on the way to Koločep, having a once in a lifetime opportunity to drink a Bellini at the top of the cable car overlooking Dubrovnik’s old town, walking back into history along the old town walls, swimming in the Adriatic in October, spotting King’s Landing locations but mostly enjoying the ambience of some of the most beautiful places.

I didn’t know what to expect from our day trip to Bosnia but it did not disappoint. I’ve wanted to see Mostar, with its world famous Old Bridge, for a few years now and it did not disappoint. Although it has an horrific recent past the town now embraces diversity and indeed tourists and I felt so safe and welcomed.

The local Bosnian tour guide Irfan was very informative and pleasant and explained the local culture and customs to us. The town itself is stunning. I’d loved to have spent more time here but understand we’re under time restraints due to the border crossings but I’d definitely consider going back.

Our hotel was The Valamar Sunny Hotel which is located very near a small pebbly beach, approx. a 20-25 min bus trip from the centre of the old town (just get the number 6 bus terminus to terminus). The rooms were adequate for a 3 star. Everything you’d need in the room except an iron. As the evenings were cooler it was disappointing we didn’t have warmer duvets meaning we had to put the air conditioning on. But everything else was fine.

The tour was half board so breakfast and dinner included. The package doesn’t include drinks but those can be paid for locally in the hotel. A glass of wine is €4.30 so good value.

The pool area was gorgeous with views out to sea and the beach is a short 5 min walk.

The only real negative thing about my trip was a mix up with baggage allowance during the booking process. I was given conflicting information when I rang twice to check. It would help to make it clearer online what the situation is if you decide to add extra baggage nearer the departure date.

As always with the Travel Department groups it’s the people on it that often make it special. We were lucky to have some wonderful characters who made the most of the week and we all jelled together as a group.

And that included our fantastic Tour Guide Enis Hrustic. Enis is an excellent Tour Guide with a vast fountain of knowledge. He was able to answer every question we had and made sure everything ran efficiently and smoothly for us. He’s a very kind, warm and witty person so it was a pleasure to join his tour.

Dubrovnik is a fabulous place with a rich and diverse history. I’d loved to have had time to visit more of the museums and go on some more boat trips to other islands. But there’s only so much you can fit into 7 days.

It’s definitely somewhere I could see myself visiting again and I’d highly recommend it.

Just returned from an amazing 12 night trip to China, staying in Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai. Everything worked like clockwork, thanks to our knowledgeable, patient and helpful guide, Dai Ling (Jack). This was a busy tour and as 75-year olds we were slightly apprehensive, but all our needs were catered for. We can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
