Sibstar is a breakthrough for dementia patients, and to keep as much independence as possibly can.
I set my mother who has Dementia, up on the Sibstar card, it has proved absolutely first class. She can use it just like a normal card with the added bonus of not getting scammed, or give her details away. It does take a good few weeks to set up , mainly because of thorough checking.
Totally recommend Sibstar.
Don't waste your time
Applied for a card and heard nothing,it was for my mum with dementia,rang 5 times over a week to chase where it was and left messages.A month later I got a reply by email.Absolutely disgraceful customer services so don't bother

It’s a great idea and has lots of benefits. It did take a bit of setting up, mainly because I live away from the person using it. At a later date a cash point swallowed my aunt’s card (the machine was faulty we found out afterwards) and it did take a long time to get a replacement (nearly 6 weeks). The staff were really helpful (in particular William) and it seemed to be a card printing issue responsible for the delay. I think it is a system that is definitely worth a try.

1 star because you can't give 0 - Absolutely useless, card has never worked and cost me £50 in fees. Can't get hold of customer service and they never call back. Total waste of time and money, don't use Sister if you have any sense.

Will at Sibstar provided outstanding service and demonstrated a high level of professionalism throughout. He was able to quickly identify and resolve the issue that was causing my nan’s card to decline, and thanks to his expertise everything is now working perfectly again. The service was truly first class, and we are extremely grateful for his help. Will was an absolute lifesaver, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both him and Sibstar to anyone in need of reliable, efficient support.

Exactly What We Were Looking For
My daughter has a learning disability, and managing money has always been a tricky area. We tried giving her cash, bank cards, budgeting apps, nothing really stuck. Sibstar has helped me manage my daughters finances and use the locked down app to show her the transactions shes making. the statements could be improved to add a running balance but otherwise we are happy
Appallingly poor customer support
Appallingly poor customer support. I’m trying to get an account for my son and have provided appropriate documentation but each time it’s come back with an oops message which is not at all helpful. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve phoned and emailed. This is extremely frustrating and has led me actively look for an alternative. It also makes me consider whether this is a safe option for my son’s money.

Sibstar has been very good for me and my son, he has Down syndrome and it gives him the independence he needs to be able to spend his PIP. He has the app that has less control but he can see his balance and transactions which has helped me teach him the value of money and how to spend safely. Jasmin and her team especially William have been very helpful everytime I’ve needed anything
The Sibstar card is a fantastic idea…but
The Sibstar card is a fantastic idea and has given my daughter independence. The cost of the service is good. The problem is that it is impossible to obtain a response via the phone or email quickly. There is a problem with the statements provided and this has made it very difficult to complete the report for the office of the public guardian. Some changes are needed to support relatives with their duties to the Court of Protection.

This has been a real help to my mother who suffers with dementia, making sure she retains her independence as much as possible has been hard but Sibstar has offered a service that maintains that.
Very approachable via phone and email also has been really great in the times where she has lost her card etc and any issues we have had have always been sorted quickly.
A really good banking option for people who need this type of service for a loved one.

The fact that you could disable the card for online and phone purchases kept my mother safe from unscrupulous appliance protection companies who had previously been able to gain her card details! An excellent service that fully understands the needs of dementia as well as the family. I would highly recommend.
Sibstar is an excellent service
Sibstar is an excellent service, allowing me to manage day to day spend of my elderly father. It also feels good to be donating to the Alzheimer’s society a modest amount each month. Customer service is very good. Would recommend fully.
Worked Well For Me & My Mother
A few teething problems to get card for my Mother who has Alzheimers but once sorted all worked well.
Staff have always been responsive & very polite & friendly whenever I have had cause to contact them. It was reassuring to know that I had control of loading up the card & limiting spend etc for my Mother when carers where entrusted to use on her behalf when shopping for her.

Great idea, IF you could get a card ? IDs refused if not complete square even if All the information is visible, now download several documents , Altzimers and silly requests are not compatible!
It would seem BOTs must do the checks so no flexibility at all. Come back humans. Please!
Despite several requests for assistance…
Despite several requests for assistance to setup a new account, I have only received one call back, which was ineffectual. The telephone support is constantly busy, leaving a message generally goes unanswered. Very poor service, especially for a potential customer.
so frustrating .......
Initially when first using Sibstar all was great, total game changer in fact, couldn't speak highly enough of it, not sure what has gone wrong. It is literally impossible to contact them - they send ridiculous emails to your unanswered phone call saying they aim to contact you in 2 days, which quite frankly is a lie, I have been trying to contact them for over a week multiple times a day. My brain injured stepson had his card eaten by a cash machine, it is proving impossible to get another, added to that he has moved supported living so need to update address, like many folk in this type of living he doesn't have bills in his name or much post with his address on, this seems to be something they haven't really though about - its like they are running a one man band operation (well 2 - Jasmine & William) - a truly outstanding unprofessional experience, especially frustrating as this is a life line for people with special needs
