Classic Bait-and-Switch — Terrible Experience with Lawn Love/LawnStarter

This company engages in what I consider a classic bait-and-switch. I tried to cancel on day one after speaking with the sales rep because I sensed issues right away. My concerns started when I called back with questions and was repeatedly transferred to a recorded customer service line—no live agent. It took three calls just to speak to someone who could actually help.

The main reason I hired them was to handle weed-wacking in my desert landscape front yard, which I clearly discussed during the initial sales call. However, once my account was set up, I noticed weed-wacking was excluded, with only basic services listed: mowing, edging, and blowing. I was assured it would be added to my account, but it never was. When I requested to cancel, I was told I couldn’t until after three visits, and reps kept assuring me the full property would be taken care of.

When the Pro (Paula from K.I.S.S. Lawn Service) finally came out, she only mowed and edged the backyard, was there for about 10 minutes, didn’t blow off debris, didn’t weed-wack anything, and left my gate wide open. I’d already explained the property lines and specific concerns about the front yard, but she claimed the company only instructed her to mow the backyard. When I followed up, she changed her story and said weed-wacking was only done on lawn—not rocks or flower beds. Totally unprofessional and dismissive.

A second Pro was scheduled after I complained, but he also stated he doesn't weed-wack in desert landscapes—just lawn areas. So again, the front yard was ignored. Lawn Love/LawnStarter kept changing their story depending on who I talked to. First they said weed-wacking was included, then they said it wasn't, and yet still insisted I keep the service for three visits before canceling.

Do you think I’d let them keep servicing my yard after all that? Absolutely not. They say what they need to get you to sign up, then change the terms after. It’s misleading, dishonest, and a violation of basic consumer trust. Thankfully, they did finally cancel my service—and I will say, I could at least reach someone on the phone each time I called—but that’s the only positive I can give.

Avoid this company.

They brought a full team in for the mow and knocked it out quick and effectively. Good work and took less than the time of a quick meeting to finish clean up and head out

A great experience with Cameron. He took the time to make sure my yard was nice and clean after mowing. After having a bit of wet weather, my grass and yard was looking a bit wild. He mowed at a good height and tidied up my yard afterwards. I will definitely continue to have him mow.

We had an original crew assigned that never showed up and Lawn Love accommodated and had someone out within 24 hours who did a remarkable job.
