We had booked a trip in April to Adventures on the Gorge to experience White water Rafting. Due to Covid-19, we were able to push our trip back until early September. We had a large group of about 16 people so we chose to rent the Como Haven Lodge, which is offered through Adventures on the Gorge. It was very spacious and accommodating - a large kitchen for entertaining as well as a large oversized deck with a HOT TUB overlooking the trees. We sometimes even caught a glimpse of zipliners in the distance. Talk about a view! There are even an abundance of hiking trails that lead to a beautiful narrow river... right in your back yard! and just 5 minutes from the main camp, that features snack and drink bars, gift and camp shops, paintball!! and a large pool with an AMAZING lookout over the New River. It's beautiful and a sight that must be seen if you visit this area!
When it comes to the rafting, we decided to do a less extreme raft experience on the Lower New River since the majority of our group had not yet done this. We were split into groups of 8 on 2 boats with 2 instructors. And let me just say, ALL of the instructors were amazing! They made sure everyone knew what they were doing, and still had a sense of humor and kept things funny and interesting. Our entire group of about 6-8 boats always stayed close the entire float down the river, even stopping for lunch off of one of the beach's as a whole. It was really neat, and made everything feel more safe, like there were plenty of eyes on everyone! Our instructors personally on our 2 boats were a gal named Bird -(Kitty because she wears cat ears on her helmet. Like I said, they kept it interesting) and you cant forget Motorboat( hilarious!!) not a single member of our group had any complaints about instructors or instructions! After the 6 hours was up and we finally finished the float, we all met back at the main camp I had mentioned earlier, where they had tons of photos you could purchase, and even a short video clip of the day we had. They even offered us free beverages! It was awesome being able to sit around and joke and laugh at all of these memorable moments they shared with us. I left feeling like I could call these folks my friends and family! I Can vouch for us all when I say we all had the time of our lives at Adventure's on the Gorge, and if you've been thinking about maybe going rafting-- Do IT!! Here at the Gorge! I promise, you wont be disappointed!
We look forward to coming back to experience the Upper Gauley next fall!

We love this adventure resort for many reasons, it's nice to have everything there, from food, to the ropes course, to the rafting.

Best time ever. Can't wait to go back next year.

Great rafting with very experienced and fun guides. The facility was clean and fun. We stayed in one of the houses, and it was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

I'm giving you a 4 but it's really a 5. I believe in always doing your best and always striving to improve and do better. You all (y'all) have done that year in and year out the entire 23 years I've come down to raft with The Rivermen and now AOTG. To me, there is NOT a better, safer outfitter in WV than AOTG. Year 24 trip for me and my family/friends is already in the planning stages for 2021!

Fabulous time whitewater rafting over Labor Day. Olivia was an amazing guide. For someone in their early 70s who had not rafted for many years, I was a bit nervous but totally reassured with excellent instruction from Barry as well as Olivia before the trip began. The Adventures on the Gorge program is so organized, fun and happnin...for old and young. Campus is outstanding. Cant wait to return. Mary Ann

Great weekend, we're planning a big family outing for next summer

My crew had an amazing time and can't wait to return! We (party of 7) participated in whitewater rafting, zip lining and repelling. All of our guides (Tawny, Eli and I can't remember the others) were very skilled and amazing! The whole operation was very careful about all the covid stuff as well. Take your family to this safe getaway and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Our family had a great experience at Afventures on the Gorge. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and well laid out. Being able to take a 6 and 7 year old down the river with some rapids was a great experience for them. It was fun to see their excitement. We will return.

Besides the gorgeous natural beauty of the area and the rivers, the guides really do a lot to make the rafting trips a wonderful memory. After having a lot of fun and working hard to give rafters a great experience, the guides serve lunch, clean up the picnic area and get everyone back to the boats for more adventure.

The place is great! The guides and staff are awsome! We are definitely coming back!

Best trip ever!!! Our guide was 2nd to none

We rafted in June on the lower. We had so much fun our guide, Ray Ray said we should do the upper during gauley season. So we just did the Upper with 5 class IV’s. It was incredible! Our guide Andrea did a awesome job and kept us in the raft the entire trip! High thrills, great memories!!

The cabins and every facility was so nice, updated and clean. The natural environment was impressive. Will come again for other activities besides White Water rafting. As our entire raft capsized into the "wrong side", realized how incredibly dangerous the river is. Thankfully we all had great life vests and helmets on but friend still received concussion and I still was pulled under by the water for more than a minute. Any advertisement from any white water rafting company makes rafting seem safe and fun. If you come through without tipping then it is fun but when the occasional incident happens, there is NO human experienced enough to save you from the waters power.
