they look like a normal shop, but they use several "dark patterns" to secure your cash before they even have the product:
• The "Phantom Stock" Trick: They list thousands of items as "In Stock" (usually with a 1-2 week delivery estimate) that they do not actually possess. They are essentially a high-delay drop-shipper. By the time you realize the item isn't coming, they've had your money for weeks.
• The "Rolling Deadline" Loophole: When a delivery date passes, they automatically send a template email pushing it back by another month. They do this repeatedly to keep you in their system past the window where many banks allow easy chargebacks.
• The Predatory 25% Cancellation Fee: This is their most "scam-like" tactic. They claim in their terms that if you cancel a pre-order, they keep 25%. However, under EU law, this is often considered an "unfair contract term" if they haven't shipped the item or if they've missed the promised delivery date.
• The Geographical "Mask": By using dozens of local domains (.nl, .it, .co.uk, .be), they trick customers into thinking they are buying from a local shop with local return laws, when everything is actually funneled through their French entity.

Months ago. I still haven’t received the model even though they have advertised same day shipping on it. I rarely even get a response from customer service. Avoid 1001 Hobbies like a skunk at a picnic.

I have yet to receive my order #FA464078 of 8/24/2026 nor do I get any useful information as to where the package.

Your check-out states it accepts numerous credit cards as well as Apple Pay. After numerous attempts, including seeking help from customer service, which was ineffective, I tried PayPal. It worked. Why I had to go through this ridiculous exercise makes no sense at all.
Simply state, “We only accept PayPal”. It’s not that hard.

I ordered a playmat that showed in stock only to find out a week later it was an error on the website. I cannot get in contact with a single person to resolve the issue the one emails response I got was we can off you a credit and I responded to the email but no response back again. Thus far, An excellent start. I was looking for unusual item, as I am sure most modeler's do. Easily found. Easily ordered. At a fair price. Still waiting for the item which was ordered on 8 December. It appears to be coming from France. Item arrived today in a snowstorm ! Awesome job folks !
Tried to cancel an order and was ignored for months, then had to wait weeks between replies only to get a 'refund' of store credit like I was planning on returning.
1001hobbies offered the best price for the item I was looking for, based on recommendations of what was considered the best kit to purchase. They were quick to provide me with a receipt of my purchase. However, there seems to be some confusion on completing the purchase, which I thought I had already paid for. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.
To be honest I was hesitant when ordering because of older reviews of the company and some bad Reddit threads I'd read, but I'm happy to say I took the chance since more recent reviews seemed increasingly positive. I purchased a loungefly bag and it arrived in perfect condition despite the box itself being a bit mangled from shipping. I am in Canada, so I'm not surprised at the condition of the box after an over seas trip, but even with the distance it was only 8 business days from the time of ordering to delivery.
I made an back order and have been wait for 4 months. The shop do not deliver my order when my items are in stock now. I sent message to customer service several times but no response.
1001Hobbies has a good selection of available models and associated material upgrades. I like that they are organized enough to quickly prepare and ship from their inventory. Doesn’t matter that they are European located. Willing to pay the shipping costs.
It was very easy and well planned on their purchase page. Creating an account was easy and my overall experience with 1001hobbies was a good one!
